Description:

1 online resource

Summary:

"In 2008, David Kohn Architects, engineersHRW and Max Fordham worked on the pitch for The Arts Space of the Future - a competition run by Arts Council England and RIBA London. The brief was an invitation to architects to respond to the challenge of creating arts spaces of the future; spaces which reflect changing lifestyles, expectations and forms of participation, new and developing arts practice, the need to address climate change and issues of sustainability and the move towards more flexible, publicly engaged buildings. In 2008, the team was an architect, structural engineer and an environmental engineer, and the input from the art world came through conversations with clients and gallerists. Since then, David Kohn Architects has evolved. The practice has been working with artists and collaboration has become a much more important part of the practice's work. Therefore it is pertinent that this time round there is actually an artist in the room. In 2019, on the occasion of the Oslo Architecture Triennale, David Kohn Architects invited Jane Wernick (engineersHRW) and Nick Cramp (Max Fordham), alongside artist Pablo Bronstein and designer Mark El-khatib to reflect on the project and ask what has changed?"-- provided by distributor.
