Summary:

The international architecture, urban planning and design studio Sauerbruch Hutton was founded in London in 1989 by Matthias Sauerbruch and Louisa Hutton who lead it with Juan Lucas Young, together with a team of 120 professionals working in today's Berlin headquarters. Since its birth, the firm has carried out an important number of projects focused on the idea of sustainability, demonstrating what Bruno Latour has defined as the extraordinary ability of architecture to create relationships, even between past and present, in particularly sensitive in various European cities. An Italian example is the project of M9 Museo del 900 in Mestre, signed by Sauerbruch Hutton and inaugurated in 2018, part of a synergistic urban regeneration, which from September 3 hosts a retrospective dedicated to the Berlin studio, and presents three conversations with the Firm's partners. The first has as its theme the condition of the contemporary city and the role of architecture; the second addresses the urgency of sustainable architecture; the third is sensuality and the neglected question of beauty in architecture. The book closes with a list with short illustrated project sheets. Exhibition: M9 - Museum of the 20th Century, Venice, Italy (03.09.2021 - 06.02.2022)
