Paul Landauer offers here an illustrated text on ruins and repairs, an essay blending history and theory, with a highly philosophical approach to the repair of architects' buildings. His work draws on numerous architectural references, ranging from Antiquity to the contemporary world. In short, he explores the various ways of repairing buildings while reflecting on their preservation and transformation. Paul Landauer is an architect, holds a doctorate in architectural history, and is a professor at the Paris-Est School of Architecture, Urban Planning and Territories - Gustave Eiffel University. After a period of research devoted to the architecture of large housing estates (history and potential) and the planning of public spaces (conditions and models), his research now focuses on theories of transformation in architecture.
