Consists of 959 drawings, 593 photographs, negatives and slides, 10 reprographic copies and 3.25 l.m. of textual records concerning 81 projects which include schools, residential buildings, churches, commercial buildings, government buildings and pavilions, etc.

Biographical note:

born 1925, Montréal, Québec; d. 2003, Sherbrooke, Québec; studied civil engineering from 1942-43 at McGill University; entered the McGill School of Architecture and graduated in 1948; worked for the Ottawa firm of Abra, Balharrie & Shore between 1948-52; opened a private practice in 1952 with fellow McGill graduates Raymond Affleck and Jean Michaud; by 1955 Desbarats, Affleck and Michaud, with Fred Lebensold, Dimitri Dimakopoulos and Hazen Sise, formed Arcop (Architects in Co-operation) in Montreal; appointed Dean of the University of Montreal's School of Architecture in 1964; became a founder and first Dean of the University's Faculté de l'Aménagement in 1968; accepted an Assistant Deputy Minister of Design position at the Department of Public Works, Ottawa, in 1975, and became the Assistant Deputy Minister of Design and Construction the following year; left the civil service in 1985 to continue a private practice as a consulting architect first in Ottawa, then in Georgeville, Quebec; served as the president of the Jacques Viger Commission in Montreal from 1991-94.
