Summary:

"Maciej Nowicki (1910-1950) is considered one of the most interesting protagonists of architectural life in late interwar and early postwar Poland. This is despite the fact that an architect's achievements are usually judged by the designs they implement, and in Nowicki's case, not much of his work can be seen in Poland. Shortly after he began his career, World War II broke out, making it impossible for him to practice his profession. Nowicki's contribution to the reconstruction of Warsaw is limited to visionary plans and designs that were never implemented. Nowicki secured his place in the history of modern architecture with just one building in the USA, which was constructed after his death: the State Fair Arena, later renamed the J. S. Dorton Arena, in Raleigh, North Carolina. This unique design was enough to gain him international recognition and establish him as one of the pioneering architects of the second half of the 20th century."-- Provided by publisher.
