Claus Bury, who has been designing and building great architectural sculptures since 1979, is one of the most internationally renowned German sculptors alive today. Including essays by well-known authors, this book is devoted to Bury's most recent works. For the first time, the artist's sketches and journal - such as those detailing his travels in Yucatan, Mexico, in early 2006 - will be published along with impressive black-and-white photographs of Mayan temples. Various aspects of Bury's public sculptures are examined, especially boats and ships, a subject at the core of his work. Photographs from Bury's collection of farmer's architecture - sculptural structures made of bales of straw, which he has been photographing for 25 year- complete the volume.
