Summary:
Back in print. The work of New York-based architects Diller + Scofidio is consistently at the cutting edge of current thought, helping to radically redefine the role of the architect and architecture in contemporary society. Targeting the body as "a site of transient inscriptions, inseparable from program," they constructed Flesh, a book/project that, in their words, "maps out strategies for 'contractual space' in which architecture can perform critically within encoded spaces of privacy and publicity." The result is a dynamic publication that is not so much a book about their projects as it is a reworking of their projects--interwoven with multiple strands of text and imagery, Flesh is a new "indexical structure" that allows the reader to determine diverse paths through the document.

Summary:
The work of Benthem Crouwel Architects is sober, practical and functional - wholly in line with the Dutch tradition of soundness and reliability. At the same time there is wide-spread admiration for the expressive and aesthetic values of the designs, which achieve maximum effect with a minimum of means. This profusely illustrated publication presents the complete oeuvre spanning twenty years on the basis of five themes. "Living" focuses on the private houses and apartment buildings such as those for Jager, Nieuwland and Soutelande. "Working" gives a picture of such diverse projects as the Amsterdam office for Wagons Lits, the Provincial Hall in Groningen, de Malie Tower in The Hague and the Mors factory in Opmeer. "Shopping" describes recent projects in Leidschendam, Amsterdam Zuid-Oost and Schiphol. "Travelling" likewise features various projects for Schiphol, supplemented with proposals for Amsterdam's North/South underground line and Lelystad airport. Finally in "Visiting" we encounter the firm's many recreational and museological projects such as the popcluster 013 in Tilburg, new major spaces for the RAI and Ahoy' complexes, the so-called cultural strip in Amstelveen, and the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam.

Summary:
This volume is a unique compendium of the works of Robert and James Adam, both built and unbuilt. It includes 900 illustrations. The Complete Works of Robert and James Adam is reprinted here in its entirety, updated and corrected. It covers every one of the 230 or so built works, including 12 that have been recently discovered. It is complemented by a completely new title, Unbuilt Adam. This mentions all the brothers' important unbuilt projects, and both discusses and illustrates 130 of them. It gives an exceptionally thorough review of the brothers' designs and provides a mine of information for both the expert and the general reader. It uses the works covered to give an understanding of the Adam manner.
