The book contains about 150 selected texts — interviews, feature articles, essays, lead articles, reviews, letters, introductions, appraisals, and competition reports that have been compiled for the first time. This compilation not only provides a fresh and critical view of the oeuvre of one the most important contemporary architects, but also represents an account of the debate on architectural and urban design in recent decades.

According to Ole Vanggaard, ''the borderland between architecture and engineering is chaotic, a dangerous field to work in. Here the basic rules of art and technique are not valid.'' In the course of his career, the Danish engineer has worked with many architects to realise tectonically challenging structures. This book consists of articles and essays by architects and engineers that bear witness to Vanggaard’s engagement with architecture and structure, his ability to introduce dynamics, beauty, and strength in his projects. For him, chaos makes sense, and concepts are developed from a focused perception and an ability to develop calculation methods for complicated constructions.

"R. Drawing extensively on his archive and with over 300 images, the book follows Fuller’s explorations of geometry, language and intellectual property in their relation to design principles and pedagogy, organizing its survey of Fuller’s work through parallel conceptual threads rather than in a linear chronology of his career.

He maintained that he had learned more for his future profession from his teacher Egon Eiermann than from anyone else.

Summary:
Founded in 2009, Paris-based PARC Architectes has risen to prominence, winning awards and accolades in its native France and beyond. Just as important as its design work is PARC Architectes’s research on contemporary architecture and urbanism, laid out in the essay « Le Parc Planetaire » ("The Planetary Park"), published in the firm’s own journal, PRAGMA, and on its blog, CRAPZINE. This first book to focus on PARC Architectes, " Architecture as environment" features fifteen foundational designs by the firm, chosen to reflect the firm’s credo that the environment has to become a matter of architecture. At the interface of art and science, PARC Architectes’s designs are installations rather than mere structures, enabling adequate responses to contextual and conceptual issues in the construction of contemporary human environments. In addition to brief essays, the book also includes one hundred illustrations, including many in full colour.
