What started as an easy solution – trawling through the magazine’s archives in search of interviews and conversations to bundle and reprint – turned into a complex analysis of “datedness”. Blind spots were revealed, old trends came to light, instances of amnesia emerged, and sometimes it seemed like nothing had changed. The editors decided to give the original interviewees and writers a chance to reflect, perhaps redeem themselves, even decades later. Some were unable and others were no longer reachable. So they asked respected colleagues and experts to comment or give their own context instead. The result is illuminating, a truly layered celebration of the space in between.

Summary:
DMJournal–Architecture and Representation is a new publication dedicated to the exploration of practices, histories and material cultures of drawing in architecture and related fields. ''In addressing this inaugural issue of Drawing Matter Journal to the 'geological imagination', we aimed to investigate the imbrication of thinking in architecture and art with matters of the earth, and to explore the kinds of graphic inscription to which this has given rise. Moreover, in doing so we wanted to attend to the much-debated concept of the Anthropocene and the way it has both given a new centrality to geology in critical cultural discourses and led to different kinds of questions being addressed to historical materials. This is evident in various ways across the contributions to this issue.''

Summary:
For decades, the call for equality and equal opportunity has been heard within the hierarchical world of architecture. The number of those actively working for change is growing. Their goal is to turn architecture into an ethically responsible and socially and ecologically sustainable practice. The publication proceeds from the question of how forms of social injustice are entwined on different spatial levels. As its enquiry unfolds, it becomes clear that the fight for gender equality in the built environment must now be linked to other forms of campaigning for social justice (anti-racism, anti-colonialism, the fight against transphobia and homophobia, etc.). As a political medium, architecture can help honour a new pledge of freedom based on a transformative idea of fairness. ARCH+ is Germany’s leading magazine for discourse in the fields of architecture and urbanism.

Summary:
More a book than a magazine, Mousse #83—The Artist’s Artist is a special, collectible issue conceived as a small anthology of seven comprehensive monographs dedicated to influential, yet at times underrepresented, artists who spearheaded the languages that are defining our age—the so-called artists’ artists. Julie Becker, Dara Birnbaum, Andrea Branzi, Vaginal Davis, Lala Rukh, Rosemary Mayer, and Jean-Frédéric Schnyder help us to celebrate the perpetually ambitious objective of providing layers of understanding regarding artists’ practices and their implications in the present. In a moment when the editorial landscape is witnessing a precipitous turn away from firm engagement with art’s primary matters, we have registered a growing concern among those who inspire us and to whom we want to pay homage, to which we respond by returning to committed writing and engagement, a foundation of contemporary culture’s production and reception.
