Summary:
In her early twenties, photographer Sari Soininen regularly and excessively experimented with LSD, which eventually led to an extended psychotic episode that impacted her life in a profound way. ''Transcendent country of the mind'' is a deep dive into encounters with alternative dimensions of reality and perceptions of otherworldly signs around us. Through a kaleidoscope of mesmerising landscapes, unfamiliar portraits, and more, it tells a story of subconsciousness, about the world that resides in the back of our minds. Soininen’s colourful body of work shows our vivid surroundings in all their beauty and darkness, and embraces a journey towards the undiscovered.

''Everything_2'', the 4-years-in-the-making sequel to Kenta Cobayashi’s ''Everything_1'', which launched the Japanese photographer’s career towards international museums and galleries and into the hands of fashion brands like PUGMENT, dunhill and Louis Vuitton. Cobayashi has developed his unique visual aesthetic into an eclectic, colorful, expressive style that makes liberal use of digital manipulation techniques to glitch and alter his photographs. Cobayashi filters his impressions of metropolitan scenes and scenery, fashion and faces using technology, history and his own sensibility to create era-defining images, as he probes into the ability of photography (literally written as ''copied reality'' in Japanese) to depict truth. ''Everything_2'' has been printed using Kaleido® technology to ensures a closer RGB fidelity, even in the offset realm, showcasing the vibrant tonal range evident in Cobayashi’s work.

Summary:
''The past exists'' is a collection of works presented at Kenta Cobayashi’s solo exhibition at Mitsukoshi Contemporary Gallery in June 2022. In this ehibition, he selected portraits from ''Everything'' series of photographs. Cobayashi describes the past as a kind of frame that constantly transforms according to the angle and quality of the memories that one looks back on. Photographs are always a reflection of past time, but editing the images and determining the layout of the exhibition is a variation on that point in time and a search for an expression that is appropriate to his current self. He also says that these works are like a parting gift to his twenties, and that they are a final farewell to a stage that will never be performed again. In this book, Cobayashi expresses the accumulation of time from the past to the present by using the layering function of Photoshop, which is indispensable in his production process, to create a layout in which the layers of photographs overlap each other as the pages are turned. In the form of a book, we practice a way of being in which each time is connected and a non-uniform image emerges.

Summary:
After living for several years in the chaos of influences that is New York, the visual artist Satoshi Tsuchiyama realized that it is Israel that is the world’s hub for contemporary dance. His experiences of working with both dance and Jewish artefacts fused together. Questions arose in his head: Since the political situation has long been unstable in this religiously and culturally rich region, what kind of normal everyday life can be found there? What colours and scents does a country like this retain, and how do the dancers appear and move under the influence of an environment like this? He decided to go there to witness the extraordinary on a daily basis. During his four visits to Israel and Palestine in 2017–19, he wandered in scorching sand and graffiti-filled streets, climbed to the collapsing top floor of the art school. He followed the desires of his eyes. The dancers he met came from all over the world, but they seemed to share the same mood, the same force that oozed out of the ground. And one and the same aura accompanied their bodies in a common direction. He avoided all the areas at high risk of terror, but death and the random character of life were present wherever he went. The energy of the inhabitants to survive was strong, and he experienced a singular beauty in this raw, tough and vulnerable ordeal of perseverance and adaptation.

Summary:

Summary:
''Vantage point'' is a collaborative publication between American artist Daniel Everett and Swedish artist Mårten Lange. The project started as a conversation in 2016 at an exhibition for Daniel’s book ''Throughout the Universe in Perpetuity'' (Études, 2015) during the 'One Thousand Books' Art Book Festival at the Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen. Mårten was in attendance and instantly recognized one of Daniel’s images. It turned out that he had taken the exact same image from the exact same place/vantage point that Daniel had, just a short time apart in Tokyo. This amazing coincidence prompted the two to begin working together to compile more images from their individual trips to Japan to be shown together in a book. In 2020 FOAM published an excerpt from the project in issue #56 and this book is the full compilation of images.

The mushrooms—gathered in Scandinavia, Fukushima, Chernobyl and Stony Point—were photographed in front of a white background, with occasional photographs from the forests and views that Homma encountered during his hunt. The forest is one of earth’s most primal habitats; in the modern age, it is us who maintain and care for the forest.
