Summary:
Danish photographer Henrik Saxgren (born 1953) finds everyday art in the least likely places, as the title of his series Unintended Sculptures indicates. Rummaging outdoors, Saxgren discovers sculptural forms and optical illusions one would swear had been deliberately installed, at the very moment that they reveal themselves in the framework of their environments.

Summary:
Over a period of twenty years, the artist Barbara Heé has photographed Lake Silser and Chaviolas Island again and again. The resulting panoramas present a subtle portrait of this mountainous landscape in Switzerlands Upper Engadine valley. The depth and composition of these black-and-white photographs are captivating. The doubling caused by reflection in the lake and the everchanging lighting create spaces of magical presence. Precise observation of similar motifs opens up a world of sculptural forms that goes beyond the mere likeness. This volume of photographs presents, in the sense of an artists book, the complete series of photographs taken between 1987 and 2007, and which have been incorporated into Barbara Heé’s artistic work as a sculpter, painter, and draftswoman.

Summary:
The Fiction of Science is a collection of work by the Berlin-based photographer Frank Hülsbömer, whose dynamic depictions of immobile objects exist at the intersection of aesthetic abstraction and conceptual content. Whether sketchily visualized thoughts or meticulously staged motifs, the featured series evolves from the interplay of installations, colors, clusters, and geometrical compositions and often resemble computer renderings. Frank Hülsbömer, who has made a name for himself with contributions to magazines such as Wallpaper and has exhibited internationally since the mid-1990s, examines light, anatomical refractions and the construction of space and surface. Reminiscent of the Russian constructivism of the 1920s and the abstract photography of Moholy-Nagy, his photographs indicate the recent rediscovery of abstraction and geometrical work in contemporary art. The accompanying texts in the book illuminate the theoretical background and artistic approach of a photographic aesthetic that, despite its minimalistic strength and quasi-scientific precision, shines with exceptional depth and creates an outstanding poetic visuality.

Summary:

Summary:
Berger’s photographs capture a different reality from what is generally noticed, zooming in on specific, intricate natural and man-made details and patterns that can only be caught through the technical lens of the camera. Inherent to the photographer’s approach is a tacit understanding that nature’s ‘beauty’ is also in constant flux and under threat – nature makes place for human intervention and the urge for expansion. Produced to accompany an exhibition with the same title, the photographs were realised between 2002 and 2009.
