Jorma Puranen (born 1951) is one of Finland's best-known photographers. For his latest series, Icy Prospects, inspired by the fascination of great explorers (and today's tourists) with the Arctic landscape, Puranen painted a wooden board with black, high-gloss acrylic and then took long exposures of the landscapes mirrored in its surface. The results are extremely painterly impressions of nature, in which ground, brushstroke and reflection intermingle.

Berger’s photographs capture a different reality from what is generally noticed, zooming in on specific, intricate natural and man-made details and patterns that can only be caught through the technical lens of the camera. Summary:
Berger’s photographs capture a different reality from what is generally noticed, zooming in on specific, intricate natural and man-made details and patterns that can only be caught through the technical lens of the camera. Inherent to the photographer’s approach is a tacit understanding that nature’s ‘beauty’ is also in constant flux and under threat – nature makes place for human intervention and the urge for expansion. Produced to accompany an exhibition with the same title, the photographs were realised between 2002 and 2009.

Summary:
Hong Kong Inside Outside combines two major series of Wolf's work. For the first, Wolf has removed any trace of the horizon from the frame, capturing the relentless abstraction of the city’s residential high-rises while exploring the spatial experience of its inhabitants. For the second series, Wolf has juxtaposed the anonymity of these exteriors with interior portraits of 100 individuals and families surrounded by all of their belongings in identical public housing spaces that measure 100 square feet. This study forms in part a typology that allows the viewer to study how individuals make the confined spaces their own.

Summary:
Stieglitz witnessed a key period in New York’s history when the city suddenly transformed into a modern metropolis. As a child, he grew up in an upper Fifth Avenue brownstone still surrounded by empty lots and dirt roads. Naturally, he was fascinated by the monumental buildings rising around him, and you can sense his wonder in these images. Among the classic buildings he so artfully captured here are the (now demolished) Madison Square Gardens, the Flatiron, Rockefeller Center, the Waldorf Astoria, the Chrysler, and the Empire State.
