Le dernier jour, les photographies furent distribuées aux habitants, l’exposition prenant fin au fur et à mesure que chacun emportait son portrait. En 2001 et 2004, Saussier documente la dissémination de ses images dans les boutiques et les intérieurs, leur cohabitation avec les posters de cinéma, les images de la culture bengalie, les photos de familles. À cette occasion, il distribue également des portraits réalisés lors de l’exposition de 1997, qui représentent des habitants tenant à la main leur portrait de 1995/96. Ces couches d’images superposées forment le fil conducteur d’un processus d’une dizaine d’années – Saussier étant revenu une dernière fois en 2006 – qui paraît épouser le rythme cette rue-méandre fait de mouvements et d’attentes. À travers un texte d’introduction et des notations au fil de l’ouvrage, Saussier évoque le présent et l’histoire de Shakhari bazar, l’évolution et les modalités de son propre travail.

This volume celebrates Jodice's architectural work, uniting his portraits of eight world capitals into a kind of self-portrait. Four of the cities have been the subjects of previous titles: Paris: City of Light; Inlands: A Vision of Boston; São Paulo and La città invisibile: Nuove vedute di Napoli; and four are new to print, including Rome, Moscow, Tokyo and New York. When Jodice's Medeterranean appeared, which includes some Rome images, the architecture critic Herbert Muschamp observed of it in the New York Times that "Mr. Jodice depicts a mythical place, a romantic intertwining of wholeness and solitude: the oceanic sensation of merger between a self and its surroundings." That impression of unity is as strong--if not as relaxing--in his contemporary urban landscapes as in his ancient ones. Tout au long de ses soixante années de carrière, Franco Fontana a photographié ce que l’on ne voit pas, réussissant à fixer dans l’objectif une image « autre », détachée de la réalité, libérée du sujet représenté. Son travail sur la géométrie, les proportions et la composition lui a permis d’atteindre par paliers une synthèse conceptuelle qui est à la fois son langage personnel et sa manifestation formelle. Ce volume est le résultat d’une exploration minutieuse des archives de l’artiste, qui a fait émerger des clichés inédits, allant des recherches les plus expérimentales aux manifestations les plus libres de sa subjectivité, sans négliger pour autant les images iconiques qui ont rendu leur auteur célèbre dans le monde entier.
