Summary:
Created during a month-long journey across the central Andes in early 2020—at a moment when the pandemic frozed the world, Altitude emerged from a road trip of more than 8,000 kilometers through one of the most extreme and arid regions on Earth. Traveling mostly above 3,000 meters, from Mendoza and the slopes of Aconcagua to the salt flats of Uyuni and the Pacific coast of Chile, Gian Paolo Minelli transformed this demanding expedition into a slow, meditative photographic investigation. Rejecting both reportage and spectacular landscape imagery, Minelli chose to work with a large-format analog camera, embracing slowness, attention, and material presence. His gaze turns downward, toward the ground itself: fractured soils, dried riverbeds, lava crusts, salt plains, wind-polished stones, and sparse xerophytic vegetation.

Summary:
Walker Evans (1903–1975) is one of the great enduring figures of modern photography. His vivid images are inseparable from the history of the medium and the history of the USA. The subject matter was quintessentially American – small-town life, typical buildings, commercial signs and anonymous citizens – but Evans brought to them the curiosity and fascination of an outsider. His exacting eye defined an era while also questioning it. Pop artists and Conceptualists saw Evans as a pioneer and precursor, and his sensibility continues to inspire countless younger image makers. "Walker Evans" offers a broad overview of his work and its lasting influence on generations of artists. It brings together key photographs and projects spanning his entire career – from self-portraits of the 1920s to his Polaroid experiments in the 1970s – along with books and other publications that reflect his tireless capacity for observation. Together, the works reveal a creator who not only documented the world around him but also invited viewers to question the nature of photography and the perception of reality itself.

Summary:
An intricate tapestry of personal and collective memory, Mashid Mohadjerin’s work interweaves photography, text, video, and archival material to explore displacement, resistance, and identity. She reconstructs the past not as a distant realm but as something tangible, living within language, inherited trauma, and memory. In "Riding in silence & the crying dervish," the tension between imposed identity and self-definition is key to the artist’s exploration of masculinity and how it is shaped by war, colonialism, nationalism, and religious ideology. Through the lens of her father’s memories, Mohadjerin reveals how even the simplest actions become acts of quiet defiance.

Summary:
"The Colony" is a book about books, and what happens when their authority is quietly and actively undone. Liss Fenwick’s project enlists an unlikely team of co-authors: a termite colony living beneath their childhood home. Gathering books inherited from schoolrooms and family shelves – texts steeped in frontier myths, one-sided histories, and the erasure of First Nations cultures – Fenwick fed the selection to the termites and then photographed the remains: a dense, sculptural language of tunnels, voids, and clay scaffolds. It offers a reflection on the book as a dominant form of knowledge and its role in a long, often destructive relationship with other forms of intelligence and history.

Summary:
This book brings together three newly commissioned essays by Kate Nesin, Juliane Rebentisch, and Emily LaBarge, who each approach American neo-conceptual artist Lutz Bacher’s (1943–2019) body of work from distinct yet intersecting perspectives. Bacher, whose work incorporates elements from popular culture, personal artefacts, and found objects, was known for being legendary but elusive in the California art scene. Published with an exhibition at Astrup Fearnley Museum (Oslo) and WIELS (Brussels), this catalogue is distinct in that it is the first major publication on the artist produced entirely after her death and without her direct involvement or design input.
