Synopsis:
The Gordon Matta-Clark collection documents the personal and professional activities of Gordon Matta-Clark through his correspondence, texts, library, artwork and films, created predominantly between 1969 and 1978. Additionally the collection contains correspondence and photographs collected by Anne Alpert, Matta-Clark's mother, and documentation on his work collected by his widow Jane Crawford following his death.

Binder documents the life of Anne Alpert predominantly from 1947 to 1965, including her affair with Isamu Noguchi, her marriage to Hollis Alpert and the ongoing involvement of Roberto Matta, her former husband, in her, and their twin sons, lives. Correspondence addressed directly to the twins, Gordon Matta-Clark and John Sebastian Matta, from their father, is also included in the binder, along with newspaper and magazine clippings and memorabilia. Binder contains photographs and textual records.

Much of the van Ginkels' work was done in the Montréal area and nation-wide. The fonds contains approximately 1 985 drawings (1 420 originals plus 565 reproductions), 41 boards, 3 photographs, 2 collages, 2 typescripts, 1 model, 1 sketchbook and approximately 12.23 meters of textual documents. The documents were primarily produced between 1955 and 1980.
