Summary:
Berlin-based photographer Jean Molitor has been traveling around the world since 2009, tracking the legacy of the Bauhaus. A century after the founding of the school, several generations of architects have confronted or been reared on the innovations of Bauhaus architecture. Trailblazers, allies and heirs to modernism are united by an architectural language generally described as "Bauhaus." In his Bau1haus project, Molitor focuses on the aesthetics of Bauhaus-influenced architecture across the globe; his pictures make it possible to perceive the continuity of the school's legacy and its architectural language across cultures in a clear fashion.

Summary:
When the Bauhaus moved to Dessau, the desk moved with it, landing in the director’s office, where it was used as a demonstration of a vision of a modern office culture. The desk took up residence temporarily in the Lawn Road Flats in London before following Gropius to Lincoln, Massachusetts, in 1938. It has remained in Lincoln since then and is currently in the Gropius family’s private home. An index of the changing fortunes of the Bauhaus, Gropius’ desk itself becomes an actor in a complex history of changing locations and social environments. Desk in Exile traces the trajectory of this uniquely weighted object, offering a model of an object-based history of exile. Part of Spector Books’ series of readers on individual aspects of Bauhaus design, this volume comes out of the research and curatorial work carried out by the Bauhaus Lab 2016.

Summary:
Ninety years after the Bauhaus first opened its doors in Dessau, ''Big Plans! Modern Figures, Visionaries, and Inventors'' examines for the first time the role of the Bauhaus in the early modernist vision of utopia. Not just an experimental forum for the avant-garde, the Bauhaus, once it moved to Dessau, became part of an industrial region that had been a hotbed of idealized planning for the future of humanity since the end of the First World War. This visionary futurist age of Saxony-Anhalt, reflected in its local architecture, industrial production, education and advertising, continued until the rise of the Nazi party in the 1930s.

Summary:
Offering a rare opportunity to explore the largest and most luxurious house designed by Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus, and Marcel Breuer, leading architect and furniture designer of the twentieth century, this volume celebrates the Alan I W Frank House in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Built in 1939-40, the house embodies the Bauhaus "total work of art" philosophy, with Gropius and Breuer having designed every aspect of the building and its site. Illustrations including new and archival images and the architects' plans and sketches highlight an exquisite balance of proportions and colours. Accompanying essays place this house firmly within the American modernist canon just as the Bauhaus celebrates its one-hundreth anniversary in 2019.
