AP206.S1.1987.PR04
Description:
This project series documents a competition entry for new structures and upgrades to the Mysore Dasara Exhibition complex in Mysuru, India in 1987. It should be noted that the previous name of Mysuru was Mysore. The project consisted of upgrades to the existing exhibition grounds to create permanent infrastructure for the annual festivities. The client, Karnataka Exhibition Authority, asked architects to design a general layout for the site including pavilions, administrative offices, restaurants, kiosks, parking, amusements and theatres, among many others. A new entrance gate was also emphasized in the competition guidelines. The project is recorded through drawings of the site, gate and museum dating from around 1987 and correspondence dating from 1987.

AP164.S1.2004.D9
Description:
The project series documents the entry for a competition organised by the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. The firm identified this project as number 187. “The Learning Center occupies the closest point to the two existing pedestrian accesses and distributes its programme in two large pieces: the green platform which puts in relation the different levels of mobility and houses the active program and the helix which defines the library as a huge ascending space which winds around itself at the interior as well as exterior culminating in an observatory which contains a restaurant. An isolated pavilion emerges over the green platform as a scenic counterpoint. […] Three materials: water, lawn and show form the base of the choice of materials and chromatic proposal supported by a regular structure of white concrete.” (ARCH270975) Abalos & Herreros and Renata Sentkiewicz worked with Olivia de Oliveira, Blaise Sahy, Verónica Meléndez, Juanju González Castellón, Rubén Briongos and Teresa Galí. Documenting the project are conceptual, design development and presentation drawings, cartographic, graphic, photographic and reference materials, correspondence, and presentation documents.

Description:
Project series documents Cornelia Hahn Oberlander's landscape project for the Waterfall Building on West 2nd Avenue, near the entrance of Granville Island, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Oberlander worked on this project in 1998-2001 with architect Arthur Erickson and architectural firm Nick Milkovich Architects, who designed the building. The building consists in five separated structures to accomodate studios spaces as well as split-level residences. It also included a courtyard and roof gardens on all five building structures for which Oberlander was responsible of the design. The courtyard, formed by in the roof of the underground parking space, consists "a simple tapestry of pavers, ground cover, trees and a small reflecting basin [...]." [1] The roofs garden included planting of white roses at the edge of the building and ornemental grass. The rooftops serve as communal patio for the residents and was accesible to the public. The project was completed in 2001. The Waterfall Building was the last project Oberlander realized in collaboration with Arthur Erickson. The project series includes sketches, design development drawings, including planting plans for the courtyard and the rooftops, working drawings, such as landscape plans for the courtyard and planting plans. The drawings in this series also includes drawings of the building used as reference. The project is also documented through research material for the project, specifications, plant lists, correspondence, including correspondence with architects and client, meeting notes, reports, financial document, a promotional poster on the project, and photographs of the landscaping work and plant selection. Greenbird
AP144.S2.D96
Description:
File documents Greenbird, an aviary for West Green House at Hartley Wintney, in Hampshire, England. Although construction did begin it is unclear whether the project was ever completed. The design for the aviary called for metal poles and a roof grid covered with a wire framework and nylon mesh. Conceptual sketches show various roof designs and a system for providing variable heights. The final design also included an artificial spring, stepped waterfall, rock pool, shallow pool, beach and marsh areas, and perches at various heights. Existing conditions material includes a colour aerial photograph mounted on press board and an existing survey plan. Design development drawings also include axonometric drawings of the structure and proposals for pools and waterfalls. Some material in this file was published in 'Cedric Price-Works II' (London: Architectural Press, 1984), 90, 99. Material in this file was produced between1961 and 1979, but predominantly between 1975 and 1979. Several drawings in the file are attributed to McAlpine Design Group and Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons Ltd. File contains conceptual drawings, design development drawings, consultant drawing, photographic material, and textual records.
