'Reading Wood' (Backwards) explores human and non-human entanglements, questioning what it means to restitute to the natural world. In 'Forest Futurism', Orlow shifts focus to plants’ lives beyond human time, blending film and 3D modeling to connect tree fossils’ deep past with future forest scenarios imagined through the voices of children. Set in South Tyrol, the project bridges local scientific research with global climate challenges, envisioningalternative, more-than-human futures.

''In visible presence'' explores the photographic images' singular power to capture a fleeting moment by approaching them as points of contestation and possibility. Drawing on over a decade of fieldwork and interviews, as well as internet ethnography, media analysis, and case studies,''In visible presence'' offers a rich account of the role of family photography in creating communities of affect, enabling nostalgic longings, and processing memories of suffering, violence, and hardship. How do you move forward in life? "Standstill" collects radiant scenes from Oakland, California, meditating on the space in-between the big chapters in life. A follow up to Ward Long's first monograph Summer Sublet (2020), "Standstil"l offers familiar interiors and neighborhood sights vibrating with a golden state glow. Friends have children, warm light pools on a park fence, and fireworks explode over an empty parking lot. Time cycles onward, yet these few small moments are caught in a spell of suspended grace. The carefully constructed sequence offers a kind of sunny purgatory, anticipating what may come. What’s on the other side?

From the 1950s to the 1980s, the open-air playground was a social laboratory. Innovative, wacky, and educational playground designs emerged in European and American cities, as well as elsewhere around the world. Artists, landscape designers, architects, and activists sought to provide children with the best possible place to play, while also reimagining cities and communities as a whole. This expanded new edition revives the wealth of ideas of that period to inspire us today. It offers many previously unpublished images, numerous new portraits—especially of female protagonists of the time—as well as findings from the latest research on playground design.

Buckminster Fuller’s prophetic 1962 book “Education Automation” brilliantly anticipated the need to rethink learning in light of a dawning revolution in informational technology – “upcoming major world industry.” Along with other essays on education, including “Breaking the Shell of Permitted Ignorance,” “Children: the True Scientists” and “Mistake Mystique” this volume presents a powerful approach for preparing ourselves to face epochal changes on spaceship earth: “whether we are going to make it or not... is really up to each one of us; it is not something we can delegate to the politicians – what kind of world are you really going to have?”
