Le donateur du dessin, Pierre Jampen, qui a travaillé dans l'atelier Le Corbusier au début des années 60, identifie le projet comme 'Place des communications'. Aucun projet de ce nom n'a été trouvé dans l'oeuvre de Le Corbusier. Cependant, le dessin montre certaines similitudes avec le projet du Capitol à Chandigârh en Inde, où une place pourvue d'un obélisque a été projeté (Le Corbusier 1983). Le dessin daté du 5 décembre1952 concorde avec la période d'activité de Le Corbusier à Chandigârh, tel que le suggère ses 'Carnets' (Carnets 1981-1982).
