Twenty-four years later, Hearne's gruesome account of what has become known as the Bloody Falls massacre, an alleged attack by his guides on a camp of sleeping Inuit, was published. In ''Far Off Metal River'', author Emilie Cameron does not concern herself with whether the murders actually took place (as has been debated since 1795) but instead explores how Hearne's account of the massacre has shaped ongoing colonization and economic exploitation of the North.

Summary:
Diagrams of Power collects contemporary artworks and projects that use data, diagrams, maps and visualizations as ways of challenging dominant narratives and supporting the resilience of marginalized communities. The artists and designers featured critique conventionalized and established truths that obscure important histories or perpetuate oppressive regimes; they also contribute to positive social change by engaging communities and providing alternative strategies for storytelling, communication and organizing. Historical and contemporary uses of data and visualization in colonization, surveillance and management are problematized through critical interventions that use performance, embodiment and counternarratives. The publication is the product of an exhibition organized by Onsite Gallery at OCAD University, Toronto, in 2018.

Summary:
The movement of global populations, and subsequently the task of translation, underlies contemporary culture. Economic and environmental migration, forced political exiles, and the plight of refugees are now superimposed upon the intricacies of ancient and modern diasporas, generations of colonization, and the transportation of slaves. This timely anthology considers translation's ongoing role in cultural navigation, empathy, and understanding disparate experiences. It explores the approaches of artists, poets, and theorists in negotiating increasingly protean identities—from the intrinsic intimacy of language, to translation's embedded structures of knowledge production and interaction, to its limitations of expression, and, ultimately, its importance in a world of multiple perspectives.

Summary:
Illuminating the First Nations struggles against the Canadian state, ''It’s all about the land'' exposes how racism underpins and shapes Indigenous-settler relationships. Renowned Kahnawà:ke Mohawk activist and scholar Taiaiake Alfred explains how the Canadian government’s reconciliation agenda is a new form of colonization that is guaranteed to fail. Bringing together Alfred’s speeches and interviews from over the past two decades, the book shows that Indigenous peoples across the world face a stark choice: reconnect with their authentic cultures and values or continue following a slow road to annihilation. Rooted in ancestral spirit, knowledge, and law, ''It’s all about the land'' presents a passionate argument for Indigenous Resurgence as the pathway toward justice for Indigenous peoples.

Summary:
This book presents a number of experimental projects to gain experience in communication design as a symbolic and public practice. It proceeds from a critical position vis-à-vis the customary mediation of information. This is more necessary than ever now that design operates in the entertaining and marketing spectacle organized by the neo-liberal world order as an instrument for the colonization of human existence. Unlike the classic form of visual communication, the dialogic approach is a connective model of visual rhetoric with a polemic nature and polyphonic visual form. A storytelling structure that seeks to reveal the opposing elements of the message and opts for active interpretation by the spectator.
