This project series documents the Renovação e extensão do Museu Stedelijk in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 57/90. The office assigned the date 1995 to this project. At the beginning of the nineties, Rem Koolhaas, Wim Quist, Carel Weeber, and Robert Venturi were invited to propose a design for the extension and renovations of the Stedelijk Museum. Robert Venturi was the architect selected, but the project was suspended in 1993 due to the infeasibility of the program and budget restrictions. The following year, five applicants, including Siza, were asked to present a new design to a committee. In December 1995, Siza was officially announced as the new design architect for the project by the city of Amsterdam. The firm A+D+P was selected as the executive architect. Siza's first proposal was presented in 1998. His master plan included the demolition of the Marmottenhuis, the renovation of the 19th-century patios, and the relocation of the public toilets to the basement in order to create exhibition halls. The master plan also included the construction of three new wings and two underground passages to connect the newer and older buildings. A new wing, located to one side of Sandbergplein, included offices in the basement and on the ground floor as well as exhibition halls on the first floor. A new building surrounding the museum garden included storage space in the basement, a restaurant on the ground floor, and exhibition halls at the first floor. Construction work was projected to start in June 2000, however due to budget restrictions the project was not realized and a new competition was held in 2004. The firm Benthem Crouwel Architects realized the project. Documenting this project are sketches, studies, preliminary drawings, plans, and working drawings. Textual materials include project documentation and correspondence. Photographic materials document the models and project site.

This project series documents the restoration of the Castro & Melo building in Lisbon, Portugal. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 58/80 N 8/9. The office assigned the date 1988-1998 for this project. The Edificio Castro e Melo was part of Bloco A and identified as building 8/9 in the reconstruction plan of Siza. The structure of the building, originally built in the18th century in order to resist earthquakes, was rebuilt in concrete. Archival research was done in order to reproduce as much as possible the original style of the building. The interior of the building was reorganized to introduce dwellings. The first and second floors were kept as they were originally for stores and storerooms. The third and fourth floors were built for offices. The fifth, sixth and seventh floors were rearranged to introduce apartments to the building. The eighth floor was used for the technical equipment of the building. In 1996, Siza received the Secil prize for this building. Drawings include studies, working drawings, mechanical drawings, and details of finishes. Textual material includes project documentation, studies, and correspondence. Photographic material include images of studies, details of the interior and exterior, as well as construction work. It is important to mention that documentation can also be found in subseries Master plans and exterior spaces (AP178.S1.1988.PR07.SS1) and Bloco A (AP178.S1.1988.PR07.SS2).

The project consisted of extensive work to the spa resort located in Pedras Salgadas Park for owner VMPS - Águas & Turismo, S.A, part of Unicer (now Super Bock Group). The work included the demolition of many buildings, the restauration and alterations of others and the construction of new buildings. Work on the Hotel Avelames, the thermal spa, the public pools and the Casa de Chá were the primary focus of the site for Siza. These four components of the project were divided by the office, with the Hotel Avelames, spa and Casa de Chá arranged together under AP178.S1.2002.PR06.SS1 and the public pools arranged under AP178.S1.2002.PR06.SS2. Architect Luís Rebelo de Andrade also constructed eco-houses and treehouses on the site later on. This project was realized in tandem with a similar project by Siza, the Parque de Vidago (AP178.S1.2002.PR05), also owned by Unicer. For this reason, the materials for both projects are mixed together. A large number of materials for this project can be found in project subseries AP178.S1.2002.PR05.SS1. These files have been identified at the file level in the Parque de Vidago project subseries.
