Project
AP207.S1.2013.PR01
Description:
The project series documents "The Game of Architecture", a drawing realized in 2013. The drawing is of triangular-shaped structures made of bricks standing in a desert. This drawing is a reinterpretation of a previous project by Pettena "Situazioni Competitive" in 1971. "Here architecture, albeit with the same characteristic of competitiveness, becomes indistinct, confused, no longer the leading actor, at the mercy of an unknown context (a desert? the nature of an alien planet?) which, threatening to overwhelm it, seems to nullify its every need and characteristic." [1] The project series contains a drawing for the 2013 edition and the 2018 version, which is a digital photograph modified to show the architectural construction standing in rough water. Description:
The project series documents a series of photographs entitled "Testimonianze D'Architettura" presented at the exhibition "VENEREZIA" in Venice in 1978. The photographs consist of toned and overexposed color prints of the walls of a stone quarry. The photographs are "assembled in succession, as if in a slow pan, to suggest the slow rhythm of observation and lead to the discovery of other worlds [...] arising out of the examination of the strata in a fault." [1] The project series contains eight overexposed photographs of the quarry walls. Architecture In Love (1997)
AP207.S1.1997.PR01
Description:
The project series documents "Architecture in Love" a series of decorative rings designed by Pettena in 1997. "Rather than any decorative intent, this series of rings favors an essentially architectural approach. The object, formed of two halves that are assembled into the completeness of a whole, is in reality a disassembled and reassembled building, investigated in all its possible spatial values." [1] The project series contains sketches and design drawings showing the rings at different angles, photographs and project descriptions in Italian and in English.
