This publication documents and narrates the story of the eponymous experience of Radical Design and its multidisciplinary school program “without students or teachers.” The Global Tools journey began with its foundation in 1973 by groups and figures drawn from Italian Radical Architecture, Arte Povera, and Conceptual Art, and ended in 1975 after three years of intense experimentation. This book is both a commentary and an impressive visual archive that brings together essays by international authors and reproductions of many original documents—including the Global Tools bulletins, entirely republished here for the first time. This unique and definitive book marks a fundamental stage in the rediscovery of one of the most fascinating European cultural experiences of the late twentieth century.

Summary:
The term neighborhood has been reduced to a word for a convenient geographical locator. In fact, most cities claim to be compiled of neighborhoods, but this strays far from the term's original meaning - a spatial unit that people relate to. ''Neighborhood'' seeks to dispel this common misconception by integrating a complex historical record and multidisciplinary literature to produce a singular resource for understanding what is meant by neighborhood. Emily Talen provides a multi-dimensional, comprehensive view of what neighborhoods signify how they're idealized and measured, and what their historical progression has been. Talen balances perspectives from sociology, urban history, urban planning, and sustainability among others in efforts to make neighborhoods compatible with 21st century ideals.

Summary:
Sidewalk Salon is a multidisciplinary exploration of Cairo's dynamic urban spaces as portrayed by its thousands of street chairs, local fiction, interviews and poetry. The images, gathered over three years and organized into two sections - walks and series - document the creativity and small improvisations that give Cairo its distinctive character and identity. Strictly speaking, the book is a photographic essay of original chairs, but in a larger sense it reveals the material and human dimensions of the vibrant and extemporaneous layer that exists between this city's buildings and its streets. In addition to over 400 Polaroid images, the publication features fiction and poetry commissioned from Egyptian writers, plus interviews with street chair owners.

Summary:
Architecture has become an increasingly multidisciplinary profession, where concepts, techniques, and materials are readily shared with other disciplines, and the many ways an architect can define and address a design problem has redefined the role of the architect. "Situating" implies a wide-ranging approach to all phases of design, creating a more dynamic understanding of site and open-ended work that both acknowledges existing conditions and allows for mutability and change over time. In "Young architects 7: situating", young architects were asked to broaden the concept of "siting" to include the "situating" of an architectural problem. The winners of the competition—Greg Kochanowski, ROEWU Architecture, Lateral Architecture, Dan Hisel Design, LinOldham Office, and Interboro—responded to these questions with answers as distinct as they are creative.

His work exemplified a certain tendency identified by his fellow architect Ernesto Rogers in 1952, an interest in designing 'dal cucchiaio alla città' ('from the spoon to the town')—giving equal attention and applying the same innovative design thinking to small spoon and skyscraper alike. Featuring more than 500 pieces, this book traces Ponti's multidisciplinary journeys through architecture, furniture and design in his work for private homes and public buildings, including universities and cathedrals.

Unconventional, eloquent, and with a profound sociopolitical message, Scott Brown is one of our era’s most influential thinkers on architecture and urbanism. The anthology ''Denise Scott Brown: In other eyes'' – marking the 50th anniversary of the seminal treatise Learning from Las Vegas – paints a portrait of Scott Brown as seen through the eyes of leading architectural historians and practitioners. Summary:
Philip K. Dick, one of the most prolific and visionary authors of the 20th century, crafted compelling visions of possible futures and dystopian realities teeming with humans, artificial intelligences, and more. Yet, the Dickian universe is more than just its characters—it’s a realm intricately built with technological devices, machines, and objects entirely conceived by this brilliant mind. How did Philip K. Dick envision these technologies, and through them, the future? And now, decades after his time, how should we perceive and interpret these tools? More intriguingly, how can we decode and reconstruct the creative process that led to the creation and "materialization" of these devices? Grounded in a multidisciplinary framework, this volume explores alternative designs and projects for some of the non-existing technologies described in Philip K. Dick’s oeuvre.

Summary:
Since the 1980s, Canadian artist Stan Douglas (born 1960) has created films, installations, photographs and other multidisciplinary projects that address moments of rupture where "history could go one way or the other." Across formats, his images recall things that haunt: unresolved moments, political tumult and violent turning points; plots that retain a hold, however imperceptible, on the present. His work operates within the genres of cinema, photography and theater to present a point of view that is always staged. Douglas' rigorous explorations of these charged histories show us how to "think historically in the present" and frame contemporary crises in a longer timeline. ''Stan Douglas: Ghostlight'' accompanies the artist’s first survey in the United States in more than twenty years, charting his global influence and innovation across forty works from the 1990s to the present.
