Summary:
Kapitza is a multi-disciplinary design studio run by sisters Nicole and Petra Kapitza, who share a passion for print, pattern, nature, minimalism and colour. This second book project from the duo features 200 previously unpublished artworks using their new collection of custom-designed pattern fonts, rooted in their ongoing visual research and catalogue of photographs. Its inspiration derives from a “fascination with irregular arrangements, formations and shapes found in nature and man-made structures.” The results are intensely colourful, chaotic, tactile and, quite simply, psychedelic.

Summary:
Featured in the Guggenheim's 2015 landmark ''Photo-Poetics'' exhibition, New York–based artist Leslie Hewitt (born 1977) is one of the most revered artists working between photography and sculpture. Collaboration has been a central part of Hewitt's art, including projects with William Cordova and Matt Keegan, and her ongoing work with cinematographer Bradford Young exploring the Menil Collection archive of civil rights-era photographs. That cinematic rumination on historicity and the relationship of the archive to memory, minimalism, lived experience and time, sets an exemplary precedent for this first monograph surveying Hewitt's oeuvre.

Born in Verona and raised in South Tyrol, Benedetta Großrubatscher first visited the village of Ginostra – located on the island of Stromboli and accessible only by boat or by taking a long hike over the volcano – in 1975. Since then, she has returned many times to this special place that is at once ancient and modern. There are no cars there, and until 2004 there was no electricity or running water. Her naturalistic photographic style captures the colourful dynamism and moments of intimate minimalism found at this “island within an island.”

Summary:
Ruby--who was born in 1972--uses whatever media suits his ideas; projects have included sculpture, collage, installation, painting, ceramics, video and printmaking. Fusing references to Minimalism, Art Brut and graffiti with a canny grasp of contemporary and pop culture, Ruby's accumulative approach addresses the overproduction of information, neurosis and paranoia, conflicts between individual impulses and mechanisms of social control, urban violence, consumption, anxiety and the need for control that characterizes contemporary Western society. This is the most comprehensive reference on this rapidly emerging artist's work to date.

Summary:
Wallace’s work has played an important role in contemporary art over the past 50 years, from his early experiments with minimalism to his production of serial photographic tableaux and his subsequent juxtapositions of photography with monochrome painting. Consistently demonstrating conceptual rigour and aesthetic innovation, Wallace’s work can be considered a reflection of his position as social historian, critic and educator, with influences as far reaching as film and literature, the role of the institution, architecture, urban development, gender relations, environmentalism and civil disobedience. Organised in clear, concise sections that mirror the intersecting motifs that are present throughout Wallace’s practice : Minimalism, Narrative, Text Works, The Street, The Museum and The Studio, At the Intersection of Painting and Photography features essays that chart Wallace’s career over the past five decades by Daina Augaitis, Jeff Derksen, Diedrich Diederichsen, Stan Douglas, Jessica Morgan, Christine Poggi, Kathleen Ritter and William Wood. The book also includes a selection of five essays by the artist himself and an annotated chronology by Grant Arnold, providing the perfect introduction to Wallace’s lasting career and marking his influence on contemporary art today. A comprehensive publication exploring the oeuvre of Canadian artist Ian Wallace, At the Intersection of Painting and Photography accompanies a major survey of Wallace's work at the Vancouver Art Gallery, opening in October 2012.
