Project
AP018.S1.1977.PR09
Description:
This project series documents the long term planning for the Bank of Montreal Central Computer Complex Two in Scarborough, Ontario from 1977-1997. The office identified the project number as 7710. This master plan, spanning the length of 20 years, outlined 4 phases of construction for the complex. The plan called for the construction of three buildings starting in 1977, with the addition of more buildings on the site over the following two decades. The proposal showed that each new building was to be joined to existing buildings by tunnels at each level. However, only three buildings were ever constructed on this site. The project is recorded through textual records and drawings dating from 1977-1978. The textual records consist of meeting minutes, consultant correspondence and site reports.

Save the Mountain
AP027.S1.D12
Description:
Long-range plan to preserve and expand Mount Royal Park. Definition and recognition of the logical boundaries of the mountain park area are called for by the Save the Mountain Committee. The plan would establish the right of city to acquire all properties within the designated areas as they become available, and would restrict construction and control building heights in the park area. This project was initiated by H. P. Daniel van Ginkel and Blanche Lemco van Ginkel on their own account. The work was executed pro bono with Michel Chevalier, Harry Mayerovitch and Hazen Sise. It was effected with the support of the Montréal Parks and Playground Association. The recommendations were accepted and embodied in a private bill by the Québec Provincial Legislature and in the bylaws of the City of Montréal.

Description:
This project series documents repurposing the Don Jail as a potential site for the Toronto Humane Society, Toronto, Ontario. The office identified the project number as 7815. The project called for a design that would meet the requirements of the Toronto Humane Society but also preserve the Don Jail. The Toronto Humane Society required a shelter area, clinic area, administration area, and parking. The project is recorded mostly through drawings with some textual records and photographic materials dating from 1975-1980. There is significant amount of overlap with the Toronto Humane Society, New Building project (AP018.S1.1974.PR09), specifically with regards to documentation regarding fundraising for the project. The drawings show floor plans, elevations, and sections. Photographic materials include images of the Don Jail. Textual records include project documentation, correspondence, and minutes of meeting.

AP148.S1.1971.PR04
Description:
Project series documents Poli's design for a Cone table, also called "Mizar" table, which was produced for Superstudio by Crystal Art in 1973. Poli dates this project as being from 1971-1973, however, some drawings appear to be dated 1979. Material in this series features mainly sketches and drawings, many brightly coloured, some done in blue ink, and one large drawing in white on black cardstock. Not all notations appear to be in Poli's hand. One drawing also features an image (which appears to be a cut-out). The series also includes a model or prototype of the table design in glass and ceramic. A sketchbook with drawings related to this project has been catalogued with material from the Lamp for Flos project (see project AP148.S1.1971.PR02) - Poli notes that 48 pages of this red sketchbook feature drawings related to the Cone table project.

AP166.S1.1991.PR1
Description:
This project series documents a proposal for a sports complex in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The proposal was submitted in the context of a competition sponsored by the municipality of Odawara. The office of Shoei Yoh was a finalist in the competition. The design called for multiple athletic facilities in a 3-storey structure with a roof that adapts to different uses of the space and to different external conditions and forces. In order to achieve this adaptability, computer simulations were executed to determine the appropriate dimensions for each element in a grid of 3-dimensional trusses. The project series consists chiefly of printouts or photocopies of presentation and design development drawings. Also included are wireframe sections and perspective views from roof deformation simulations. There are also some printouts of computer renderings of the roof structure. Digital files include still images of the roof and building in .jpg format. There are also some transparencies and textual records. The content of this file was created between 1990 and 1991.
