AP178.S1.2005.PR05
Description:
This project series documents the Instalação na Exposição "Entrez Lentement" per il Salone del Mobile in Milan. While the records were held in the office’s archives this installation was assigned the label "outro" in place of the usual project number, to designate that it was work done for an exhibition. The office assigned the date 2005 for this installation. This project consisted of an exhibition installation at the 2005 edition of the famed Salone del Mobile Milano (Milan Furniture Fair). The Salone del Mobile exhibition, entitled "Entrez Lentement," invited eight architects to build installations related to famous architectural projects. Siza's work spoke to Oscar Neimeyer's personal home, Casa das Canoas in Rio de Janeiro. He designed two organic white forms and a curved yellow chaise lounge that related to the curved forms present in the original home. Documenting this project are sketches, a plan, and the exhibition space layout of the Salone. These materials date from 2004.

Description:
This project series documents the design for the Instituto de Biofísica in Hombroich, Germany. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 69/90. The office assigned the dates 1995-1996 to this project. The project was commissioned by the Insel Hombroich Foundation. Construction started in 1995, but was delayed until 2006. The project site was located on an old military camp and was used by the Foundation as part of a program for architects to build different types of building. The program for the Institute of Biophysics included office spaces, conference rooms, a meditation center, a music center and five guest apartments. Siza's design was kept and used later with a different interior layout for a new Pavilion for the Insel Hombroich Foundation (see project series AP178.S1.2001.PR02 in this fonds). The project was a collaboration with Rudolf Finsterwalder. Documenting this project are studies and working drawings. Textual materials include project documentation, correspondence and a development plan.

Description:
This project series documents the Biblioteca de Humanidades de la Universidade de Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. While the records were held in the office’s archives this project was assigned the number 103/90. The office assigned the date 1998 to this project. The project site was located on the site of the Colegio Mayor de Cuenca near the Palacio de Congresos built by Juan Navarro Baldeweg. Previously on this site was the Convento de San Agustin, which was destroyed during the Peninsular War. During the construction of the Colegio Mayor de Cuence archeological artifacts were discovered. The library was originally part of Siza's intervention in Salamanca, including a building for the Fundación Caja Duero and a building for the Fundación Germán Sánchez Ruipérez. None of these projects were realized. The design for the library included three floors and a basement and integrates architectural vestiges. The project was not realized. Documenting this project are sketches, mechanical drawings, plumbing drawings, structural drawings and annotated plans. Textual materials include project documentation, correspondence, and details for the archaeological excavation. Photographic materials include panoramas and negatives showing the model.
