Summary:
The Architectural League Prize is an annual competition, series of lectures, and exhibition organised by the Architectural League and its Young Architects and Designers Committee. The League Prize was established to recognise specific works of high quality and to encourage the exchange of ideas among young people who might otherwise not have a forum. Participants in the program are chosen through a portfolio competition that is juried by distinguished architects, artists and critics, and the Young Architects and Designers Committee. The committee, a group selected each year from past winners of the League Prize, is responsible for developing the program's theme and selecting competition jurors. Open to designers ten years or less out of school, the competition draws entrants from around North America. The lecture series and exhibition by winners of the competition provide a lively public forum for the discussion of their work and ideas.

Summary:
This book, accompanying an exhibition at the Deutsches Architektur Museum, is an attempt to define post-modernism in terms of what architecture is capable of achieving and what it must achieve. While the exhibition primarily shows buildings that are outstanding for their exceptionally high quality, the theoretical part of the catalogue provides a mouthpiece for critical voices. Both opponents and advocates of post-modernist theory and practice are given a forum to air their views: architects, architectural theorists, arts critics, and academics.

The latest release in the Forum Pamphlets Series documents the design, fabrication, and installation of Oyler Wu Collaborative's Pendulum Plane, their bold, competition-winning intervention at the L.A. Forum's new gallery in Hollywood. This intricate system of selfbalancing aluminum armatures performs both as reconfigurable vertical wall planes and as a hovering new ceiling that multiplies the spatial and curatorial possibilities of the space. Along with a rich presentation of drawings, models, and photographs that follow the work from its conception through completion, the book features an interview between Dwayne Oyler and Jenny Wu and noted Los Angeles architect Wes Jones, as well as commentaries by Todd Gannon and L.A. Forum president Mohamed Sharif.
