Summary:
This catalogue that accompanies the VII edition of the Triennale Design Museum, seeks to explore the creative potential induced by the crisis, ultimately responding to a fundamental question: “what did Italian design do when it found itself operated in a society with ‘its back against the wall’”? The volume focuses its attention on the theme of self-sufficient production in three different time periods: the 1930s (From autarky to autonomy), the 1970s (From austerity to participation) and the Noughties (From self-production to self-sufficiency).

Summary:
In ''Of other spaces'' Foucault coined the term ''heterotopias'' to signify ''all the other real sites that can be found within the culture'' which ''are simultaneously represented, contested, and inverted.'' For Foucault, heterotopic spaces were first of all spaces of crisis, or transformative spaces, however these have given way to heterotopias of deviation and spaces of discipline, such as psychiatric hospitals or prisons. Foucault's essay provokes us to think through how spaces of crisis and critique function to open up disruptive, subversive or minoritarian fields within philosophical, political, cultural or aesthetic discourses. This book takes this interdisciplinary and international approach to the spatial, challenging existing borders, boundaries, and horizons; from Claire Colebrook's chapter unpacking the heterotopic spaces of America and Mexico that lie beyond reductive ideological spaces of light and darkness, to a Foucauldian reading of the Zapatista resistance. With essays on politics, philosophy, literature, post-colonial studies, and aesthetics from established and emerging academics, this book answers Foucault's call to give us a better understanding of our present cultural epoch.

"Against landlords" overturns the stale assumptions and YIMBY delusions as to why housing in the UK is so poor, and why rent is so high. Bano lays the blame squarely at the feet of landlordism, which boosts house prices and makes tenancy unaffordable. Furthermore, building more housing is not the solution. It is firstly a problem of the law, and legal reforms must sweep(...)

Summary:
"Against landlords" overturns the stale assumptions and YIMBY delusions as to why housing in the UK is so poor, and why rent is so high. Bano lays the blame squarely at the feet of landlordism, which boosts house prices and makes tenancy unaffordable. Furthermore, building more housing is not the solution. It is firstly a problem of the law, and legal reforms must sweep away the rot at the heart of the housing crisis and British political life.
