Summary:
The starting point of this systematic book are the numerous archiving processes used in the Amsterdam City Archives, one of the largest city archives in the world. From the extensive collection of millions of documents, 200 pieces have been filtered for this book, showing in different ways how the archive has systematically documented the city of Amsterdam over the years. Using the structure of a time-line, the book goes back into time, from the digital acquisitions in 2010 to the first record of the city in 1275. Tag clouds, zooms, search engines, theme links, data visualisations and metadata can help while navigating through the book and allow the reader to jump through time in a non-linear way.

Summary:
An array of contributors, including poets, journalists, teachers, historians, wanderers, drinkers, photographers, and foodies, offer a selection of personal and subjective readings of the city since the late ’70s. These essays chart a variety of literal and metaphorical explorations through modern and postmodern London, showing how it works, and how it fails to work; what makes it vibrant, and what makes it seedy. This revised edition includes a new introduction by editor Joe Kerr that brings the book up to date and gives the essays context for the post-recession world.

Summary:
New Nordic Architecture & Identity offers a critical exploration of the current global interest in Nordic-ness, attempting to determine whether certain special “Nordic” features recur in architecture, and whether this involves a fundamental formal idiom that is regularly reinterpreted. Is there a Nordic architectural identity? And if so, how has this Nordic identity developed in relation to the rest of the world? This volume looks at buildings by Snøhetta, Jarmund/Vignaes, Lassila Hirvilammi, Johan Celsing, Lundgaard & Tranberg, Bjarke Ingels Group and Studio Granda, highlighting their new uses of “traditional” Nordic materials.
