La genèse de cette exposition remonte à une invitation lancée il y a deux ans à Raymond Gervais et à Jocelyn Robert, deux artistes aux affinités parfois apparentes, leur proposant de collaborer à une oeuvre qui ferait l'objet d'une exposition à la Galerie: une réflexion sur le son et le silence. Quelques temps plus tard Christof Migone, artiste qui travaille lui aussi le son, se joignait au projet proposant des oeuvres axées sur la répétition. Le temps passa, et chacun élobora des oeuvres d'envergure. Mon propos de commissaire aussi se transforma, s'éloignant de la question du son, déjà l'objet de nombreuses manifestations ici et ailleurs, pour se fixer sur la notion de coupe, de coupure et d'interruption dans l'oeuvre et dans sa conception. This volume features the adventures of Gloria Katz and Willard Huyck, two renowned filmmakers--with such writing credits as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and the original Star Wars and Mission Impossible--who began collecting Japanese photography more than a decade ago, and whose ongoing hunt seems indeed like a Hollywood movie. Since 2002, the Huycks have assembled an encyclopedic collection of images from the 19th century to the present, acquiring works by Nobuyoshi Araki, Hiroshi Hamaya, Eikoh Hosoe, Miyako Ishiuchi, Kikuji Kawada, Daido Moriyama, Ikko Narahara, Issei Suda, Shomei Tomatsu and Shoji Ueda.
