Summary:
A Jeff Wall tapestry? Sol LeWitt paneling? Is this some new Target promotion? Actually, those works aren’t for sale to the general public, but are part of architect Charles Vandenhove’s signature philosophy of integrating other artists’ work into his own designs. And it’s one reason he’s gained such acclaim and fame, whether for a new design (the Théâtre des Abbesses in Paris) or one of his numerous renovation projects (La Monnaie Theatre in Brussels). Paneling (a Vandenhove hallmark) reworked by LeWitt, Marthe Wéry, and Jacques Charlier; tapestries conceived by Luc Tuymans as well as Jeff Wall; designs by Daniel Buren and Patrick Corillon: Each work of art finds a niche in Vandenhove’s architecture, creating a deliberate interaction between disciplines. Or as he himself puts it: "As at the time of the Renaissance, I would like the work of artists to be in line with mine; I would like the one not to be able to exist without the other."

Summary:
In this illustrated study of Phonokinetoscope, Shep Steiner describes the work as marking Graham's transition into a new medium. Steiner positions Graham's practice in relation to postminimalist practice and that of other artists including Dan Graham, but especially, Ian Wallace and Jeff Wall; considers Graham's rhetoric of playfulness; and finally, beyond the web of references, argues for a notion of allegory and memory theater keyed to the durational work yet satisfying the aesthetic standards of static art.

Summary:
This is the first extensive survey catalogue of the work of artist Ian Wallace—a key figure in the extraordinary artistic ferment of Vancouver, a pioneer and theorist of its internationally regarded tradition of photo-conceptualism, and a teacher and colleague of such luminaries as Jeff Wall, Rodney Graham, and Stan Douglas. Energized by the dialectic tensions between monochrome painting and documentary or staged photography, between the emblematic sites of street, studio and nature, Wallace’s practice fosters engagement with the persistent impulses of vanguard modernism.
