Résumé:
This first comprehensive architectural guide on Dessau-Roßlau and Wörlitz, compiled by the Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau and the Kulturstiftung DessauWörlitz, presents an expert overview of more than 120 buildings and rural expanses with great care and attention given to detail. A multifaceted overall picture arises of a region which not only draws on its rich cultural and historic heritage, but also plans for the future and ventures out into new terrain. In the shape of the Gartenreich Dessau-Wörlitz and the Bauhaus ensemble, the city of Dessau-Roßlau and its environs encompass two UNESCO World Heritage sites. These encompass architectural subjects and expanses, both urban and rural, which invite much attention beyond the region itself and have had a lasting impact on the international stage. Beyond this, however, there are a whole host of notable historic and contemporary buildings in Dessau and its surroundings. As the residence of the princes and dukes of Anhalt in the age of Enlightenment and a centre of intellectual and cultural expansion at European level, the city developed into a significant industrial location as of the second half of the nineteenth century. Today, Dessau’s architectural profile is marked by contrasts: alongside restored historic buildings and standard socialist dwellings, there are also experimental refurbishment projects and ambitious new developments to be found.

Résumé:
Despite its deceptive title, the fact that this book is a guide about Iowa is accurate. Daniel Naegele qualifies “good” being not absolute but contingent and personal, and therefore a very questionable qualifier. By “architecture”, however, Naegele means “good building”, regardless of whether or not the built object was designed by an architect, is a habitable structure, or is even a building at all. Most entries in this guide are concerned either with vernacular works that are habitable tools (barns, corncribs, silos) or with built works that are not buildings at all (billboards, bridges, wind turbines, water towers). Mildly contentious by nature, Naegele’s guide is nevertheless utterly practical.

The first Auroville community was based on a particular spirit, following a design appropriate to Sri Aurobindo’s integral yoga. Pondicherry is a seaside town where the French influence can still be seen in its architecture, street names, and local language. Yet Tamil architectural styles can also be found there. This guidebook includes four Auroville itineraries structured around the experimental township’s master plan, which is divided into four zones. A fifth itinerary is located in Auromodele, which is outside the main part of the city. Likewise, three Pondicherry itineraries correspond with the city’s three main geographical zones: French Quarter, Tamil Quarter, and suburban areas.

Résumé:
encapsulates the architectural history of Manhattan with fourteen walks that guide readers along New York's most famous street. Walking Broadway This publication offers readers an architectural tour of the entire length of Broadway from Bowling Green to the Harlem River. Through fourteen structured walks the book not only presents the history of New York's most famous avenue, but also explores its architecture in depth, block by block, building by building. This is a book about what can be seen and experienced on Broadway today. Buildings are chosen for discussion first and foremost because they are interesting to look at. In a relaxed and engaging style, the author presents the building's story, explores the reasons why it is there, and explains why it looks the way it does. Along the way, the reader not only has the chance to discover fascinating and unusual buildings, but also gains a comprehensive understanding of the historic, social, economic, and political forces which shaped Broadway's growth and character.
