Vergès outlines a radical horizon: to truly decolonize the museum is to implement a 'programme of absolute disorder', inventing other ways of apprehending the human and non-human world that nourish collective creativity and bring justice and dignity to the dispossessed.

In the living room, the great stone floor flows riverlike toward the horizon of Wright–designed built-in sofas and large-paned casement windows, where views open to balconies, to forest, and to cascading falls. From here “the hatch” opens to the flowing stream below. Pools and the waters of Bear Run were beautiful and for swimming. Relaxed elegance was the order of the day. Delicacy, softness, tactility are everywhere in evidence.

The Mill is the second of three projects to engage the resource industries of Vancouver Island (mining, forestry, and fisheries) through contemporary art and writing. This volume responds to forestry: a mobile industry of logging camps that follow the trees; prices that rise and fall; mills that open and close; communities that boom and bust. In The Mill, artworks are accompanied by a multiplicity of voices, including forestry workers, plant ecologists, and indigenous land stewards. Together, these perspectives chart the cultural and material shifts brought about when trees become commodities. Expanded from two contemporary art exhibitions, Silva Part I: O Horizon and Silva Part II: Booming Grounds, The Mill examines forgotten or under-acknowledged histories, while considering both local sites and forms of cultural expression that surround international forestry practices.

Elle fait partie des fondatrices du Parti communiste britannique mais en fut expulsée pour « gauchisme ». Féministe et anticolonialiste avant l'heure qui faisait fi des conventions de son époque (se marier), elle appartient au panthéon des femmes révolutionnaires au même titre que ses contemporaines Emma Goldman, Alexandra Kollontaï, Rosa Luxemburg et Clara Zetkin. Figure méconnue dans le monde francophone, ceci est sa première biographie.
