Lasso’s buildings are practical, modern, and immediately recognisable for their bare-bones aesthetic. He was, in the real sense of the word, an eclectic; fusing diverse sources and periods in his built works. Featuring previously unpublished texts by authors such as William J.R. Résumé:
French designer and self-taught architect Jean Prouvé applied manufacturing techniques to the world of art and design, while also maintaining a social consciousness that informed his commissions. His commitment to “logic, balance and purity” led him to create standardized, affordable furniture and portable, packable houses: most notably the Maison Tropicale for use in France’s African colonies. Despite the overtly industrial aspects of his oeuvre, Prouvé’s work is admired and collected the world over for its graceful yet utilitarian simplicity. Constructive Imagination unites over 100 pieces of Prouve’s emblematic furniture and architectural works, bolstered by sketches and other archival material. The glossy bilingual volume includes five unpublished essays on Prouvé, including one by former Museum of Modern Art, New York curator Juliet Kinchin.

How long ago have you been to an exhibition or an event? What information and amusement you get from it? Did you enjoy it? We are thrilled to present you our latest title When Space Meets Art/When Art Meets Space which leads you to taste and feel all sorts of events comprehensively. An exhibition, a party or any kinds of event can encompass all design areas. For many of us who usually focus only on the exhibited items or the subject of events, few of us ever pay attention to the whole design environment. This title will guide you to look and feel it through two key components: spatial design and graphic elements. From 3D to 2D, it demonstrates how structural work including venue setups from exterior to interior makes the whole event outstanding and turn into exceptional eye-catching fascination and how graphic elements from venue decorations to promotional items makes consistency to reflect the whole event concept and affect the affiliation from the exhibited subjects to audience. By that, the title ultimately reveals how these objects affect your sense and blow up your impression to particular events.

Résumé:
The Hive was the centrepiece of the gold medal winning UK Pavilion at the 2015 Milan Expo, and from June 2016 takes up its new home within Kew Gardens. Soaring 17 metres in the air, designed by Wolfgang Buttress and created by BDP, Simmonds Studio and Stage One, The Hive is an immersive, multi-sensory experience inspired by ground-breaking UK scientific research into the health of bees. Showcasing British creativity, innovation and leadership in overcoming global challenges, this magnificent aluminium structure draws visitors into the space via a wildflower meadow, as though they are worker bees returning to the hive. Hundreds of glowing LED lights bring this 40 tonne lattice structure to life, while a beautiful symphony of orchestral sounds fills the air, with an atmospheric undercurrent of buzzes and pulses. Triggered by vibration sensors within a real beehive, the sound and light intensity within the pavilion increases as the energy levels in the living hive surge, giving visitors an incredible insight into the ever-moving life of a bee colony. The Hive at Kew is a beautifully illustrated celebration of this fascinating project. The book is divided into three sections, with James Haldane, Design Editor for The Architectural Review focusing first on the origins and the architecture of the Hive and its creation led by artist Wolfgang Buttress. The central body of the book focusses on the immersion of the Hive at Kew and the surrounding wildflower meadow designed to attract a variety of bees. This section includes features on the team behind the Hive, as well as Kew's horticultural experts. Finally, Martin Bencsik of Nottingham Trent University and Kew's Phil Stephenson explain the pioneering research into bee health and communication that inspired the Hive, and how Kew is working to help bees in their vital role as pollinators. Beautifully illustrated throughout with photographs of the Hive itself, its construction, and the wildflower meadow surrounding it, as well as architectural plans of the structure.

In 2019 the Bauhaus will celebrate its hundredth anniversary! Preparations for the centenary have raised a host of questions: To what extent is the Bauhaus tied to a place, and how can its essence be conveyed in a museum? How can the tension between school and museum — in particular the Bauhaus and its everyday presence — be given a productive role in fashioning new models of cultural education? What stimuli can the Bauhaus provide for a critical practice in today’s globalized world? In the process of compiling Bauhaus News, international Bauhaus experts, curators, historians, philosophers, artists, architects, educators, and teachers were asked to consider the Bauhaus from a twenty-first-century perspective. The book presents contrasting contemporary and historical statements and stories about the Bauhaus world heritage.
