With Toba Sea-Folk Museum as its primary subject, this overview of four works by Japanese architect Hiroshi Naito centres upon the black-and-white images made by renowned photographer Yasuhiro Ishimoto. Upon Naitos request, Ishimoto photographed each project in detail, capturing the moment when a particular light manifests at a certain place, when nature and building fall into dialogue. In his writings, Naito not only lends detailed insight regarding his works, but also expresses his gratitude for the photographers keen eye, the warmth inherent in buildings, and the refined intervention of human endeavour in the natural landscape.

Michel Butor's 'Description of San Marco' (1963) is an unusual book; an unorthodox intermingling of overheard dialogue from the Venetian square in question, thick descriptions of persons and buildings, along with sober historical information. In the original, each genre of information is assigned a distinct typography of its own, hence interacting like voices in a play. Six decades later, the artist Giovanna Silva stumbled upon an English translation of the French essayist's queer text in an archive at the New York Public Library. Returning to Venice, she cast her eye to the square and its surrounds, an iconic space at once populated by signs of contemporary life, but also astonishingly unchanged.

Résumé:
"A tree," is about vegetal agency, plant knowledge, and the interaction between plants and people, with a specific focus on trees. This book comprises a variety of contributions that take a multitude of approaches to tree life, from sensory to ancestral, intimate to speculative. Taking the time to think about trees through imagination, art, music, storytelling, poetry, and images, the works in this reader share the aim of nurturing and furthering dialogue that exercises arboreal kinship. Moreover, the contributions inspire us to move beyond large systems of oppression and towards exorcizing anthropocentrism, capitalism, individualism, heteronormativity, and coloniality, by learning from and with tree time.

Résumé:
Lucien Hervé (b. 1910), one of the great architectural photographers of the twentieth century, collaborated with Le Corbusier from 1949 until the renowned architect died in 1965. Hervé approached his subjects seeking not only to document the buildings he was commissioned to photograph but also, especially, to convey a sense of space, texture, and structure. Through light and shadow, Hervé defined the dialogue between substance and form. By delineating a strong contrast between light and shadow as well as placing emphasis on building details, the photographer was able to communicate the depth of a room, the surface of a wall, or the strength of a building's framework.

Résumé:
This catalogue takes the reader on a remarkable journey via the legends, themes and worlds that have shaped Canada’s cultural heritage. One hundred and fifty works in all media and created from time immemorial to present day are featured in full page colour plates and foldouts. This range of works documents and celebrates the magnetic north, inhabited landscapes, the dignity of labour, Canadians abroad, and the emergence of Inuit art. Central to the publication is a new approach to telling the history of Indigenous visual art with outstanding historical art objects by Indigenous artists, at times in dialogue with those by settler Canadians, while at others, reflecting a distinct Indigenous path.

Neural Architects documents a unique collaboration between a leading architectural practice, Ian Ritchie Architects Ltd, and neuroscientists, which resulted in the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre at University College London, a state of the art research laboratory and new architectural icon. In their work, Ian Ritchie and his architectural team swept away all preconceptions about how to design a laboratory. Instead, they visited neuroscientists around the world, gaining an intimate understanding of the way they use and construct the spaces around them. Through continuing dialogue, the design team imagined the new lab from the inside out and created adaptable, interconnected spaces to foster interactions between researchers from different disciplines.
