Résumé:
A single sheet of paper can be turned into any imaginative figure even by a small child. This is the charm of origami. It has developed children's creativity and dexterity for generations. There have been numerous traditional origami models, some of which are not seen any more. It is surprising that those centuries-old models often represent the most distinctive forms we(...)

Résumé:
A single sheet of paper can be turned into any imaginative figure even by a small child. This is the charm of origami. It has developed children's creativity and dexterity for generations. There have been numerous traditional origami models, some of which are not seen any more. It is surprising that those centuries-old models often represent the most distinctive forms we can think of nowadays. In this book I introduce traditional models with a little twist to show them off, along with new creations.

Maus: A survivor's tale

Résumé:
The first volume introduces readers to Vladek Spiegelman, a Jewish survivor of Hitler's Europe, and his son, a cartoonist trying to come to terms with his father, his father's terrifying story, and history itself. Its form, the cartoon (the Nazis are cats, the Jews mice), succeeds perfectly in shocking us out of any lingering sense of familiarity with the events(...)

Résumé:
The first volume introduces readers to Vladek Spiegelman, a Jewish survivor of Hitler's Europe, and his son, a cartoonist trying to come to terms with his father, his father's terrifying story, and history itself. Its form, the cartoon (the Nazis are cats, the Jews mice), succeeds perfectly in shocking us out of any lingering sense of familiarity with the events described, approaching, as it does, the unspeakable through the diminutive. Tragic and comic by turns, it attains a new complexity of theme and a precision of thought new to comics and rare in any medium.

Résumé:
Created in conjunction with Icelandic artist Tumi Magnússon, Swiss artist Roman Signer's close friend and frequent traveling companion, the book mixes personal snapshots with anecdotes, reminiscences, and humorous observations about travel, the natural world, the differences between Switzerland and Iceland, and—as with any conversation between artists—the difficulties of making art, no matter where one calls home. When You Travel in Iceland You See a Lot of Water is thus a travel book unlike any other, one whose authors simultaneously invite you along on a journey and extend a hand in friendship.

It isn’t the representation of violence in the Gaza Strip that is so disturbing; it is the absence of representation. The grief and despair of a child is penetratingly real. The extreme realism of these events has now driven a wedge between our realities, material and social. Résumé:
It isn’t the representation of violence in the Gaza Strip that is so disturbing; it is the absence of representation. The grief and despair of a child is penetratingly real. The extreme realism of these events has now driven a wedge between our realities, material and social. The scale and speed of this suffering has destroyed our ability to sustain any belief in the symbolic values of “the international community” and “human rights”. We can no longer even pretend these ideas correlate to any form of reality. This issue of Real Review is dedicated to the current mood, the Phantom of Liberty.

Résumé:
In 1946, Buckminster Fuller patented a map of Earth which presents geographic information without breaks in any of the continental contours, or any visible distortion of the relative shapes or sizes of the land masses. In 1954, the Dymaxion Projection as we know it today was hand drawn by architect, Shoji Sadao, the cartographer and collaborator behind the map. Designer Brendan Ravenhill has configured Fuller’s projection as a magnetic folding globe, a representation of Earth that easily transitions from flat to three dimensional. Fold it to form a geometric globe or unfold to reveal our flattened planet.
