Résumé:
''Curating & Repair'' is a publication exploring contemporary curatorial practices and exhibition-making as contexts for dialogue, exchange and the remaking of social and cultural relations through repair. It seeks actionable insights into how artistic work, its mediation and the institutions that support it might be mobilised toward more sustainable and interdependent worlds. Taking flight from perspectives on translation, solidarity and power, ''Curating & Repair'' approaches mediation both as contested terrain and generative possibility. It discusses the importance of challenging normative power relations in artistic collaboration, alongside the difficulties of sustaining creative work against the undertow of multiplying global crises. By aligning the curatorial with the dialogical, it calls attention to the serious, collective work that we as artists, mediators and publics have at our hands

As Aaron Betsky notes in his introductory essay, that while Guallart is an active member of what has been called emergent architecture, his practice goes further, generating a body of work that emerges from both physical and social – both real and digital – structures. While the architect himself suggests that the end purpose of architecture is not (solely) to build, but(...)

Résumé:
As Aaron Betsky notes in his introductory essay, that while Guallart is an active member of what has been called emergent architecture, his practice goes further, generating a body of work that emerges from both physical and social – both real and digital – structures. While the architect himself suggests that the end purpose of architecture is not (solely) to build, but also to define environments where human life can be organised. To support these observations, such projects as Denia Mountain, the Spanish Pavilion for Shanghai Expo 2010, the Keelung Maritime Plaza and Fugee Port in Taiwan, the Cambrils Sea Apartments and the Sociopolis Masterplan, Valencia are examined. Seventeen works and projects are presented in total, accompanied by essays, texts, photographs and elaborate technical drawings. Texts in English/Chinese

Résumé:
''Choreographing space'' is a reflection on the collaborative work of New York City-based architecture practice, e+i studio. In the book, the founders of the practice, Eva Perez de Vega and Ian Gordon, outline a fascinating selection of projects from the studio, which will take the reader on a journey and give them a key understanding of the important work of this dynamic and forward-thinking architecture and design practice. Thisl book offers both a retrospective and speculative outlook. Retrospectively, it explores the people, places and practices that have influenced each project. For certain projects it also proposes speculative post-human scenarios, to support the idea that the impact of architecture on its environment involves a reconning with the ecologies it replaces.

Résumé:
Since 2011, the Studio Experimentelles Design at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg has experimented with local design support as a contemporary practice. The student-led program advocates a community-based, cooperative approach to design. In the summer of 2020, the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin Design Lab #6 hosted Studio Experimentelles Design's eponymous online research festival.” Divided into two parts, this compendium chronicles the studio’s politically and socially committed approach through lectures, research, conversations, and project documentation from the online festival and five years of studio work. Both the festival's debate about working conditions and the studio's practice critically examine the imperative of committed designers today to radically reorient their approach, the content of their work, and their relationship with the actors for whom they design.

Résumé:
Circular Facts is a collaborative endeavor between three European contemporary art organizations: Casco – Office for Art, Design and Theory, Utrecht; Objectif Exhibitions, Antwerp; and The Showroom, London, in partnership with Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen and Electric Palm Tree. The project acted as an informal think tank and a mutual support structure for the production and dissemination of artistic projects, and has culminated in an eponymous publication. The publication aims to gather a spectrum of perspectives to explore the roles of specific initiatives within their particular localities. The contributors have produced works that speak to their experiences within arts institutions, collaborative curatorial initiatives, and research networks, expanding on the relationship between institutions and artists, markets, local and international audiences, and current political climates.

In September 1976, a curtain of shimmering white was unfurled across the hills of rural northern California, running unbroken for 24.5 miles from Sonoma County to the Pacific Ocean. The artistic vision of Christo and Jeanne-Claude's Running Fence was 18 feet high and traversed the private properties of 59 ranchers. Although it remained in place for just two weeks, the process of planning it consumed nearly four years, and the installation required helicopters, barges, lawyers, and more than 300 Bay Area students and workers. Illustrated throughout with graphic representations and photographs, Christo and Jeanne-Claude recounts how two artists who were complete strangers to the area gradually enlisted the support of entire communities in order to make their vision a reality.

Résumé:
Today political protest often takes the form of spontaneous, noninstitutional, mass action. Mass protests during the Arab Spring showed that established systems of power - in that case, the reciprocal support among Arab dictators and Western democracies - can be interrupted, at least for a short moment in history. These new activist movements often use online media to spread their message. Mass demonstrations from Tahrir Square in Cairo to Taksim Square in Istanbul show the power of networked communication to fuel "performative democracy" - at the center of which stands the global citizen. Art is emerging as a public space in which the individual can claim the promises of constitutional and state democracy. Activism may be the first new art form of the twenty-first century.
