Résumé:
Faviken is the first major cookbook by Magnus Nilsson, the 28-year old chef whose restaurant is located on a 20,000 acre farm and hunting estate in Northern Sweden. It has recently been called "the most daring restaurant in the world" by Bon Appetit. In Faviken, Nilsson writes about how he only cooks with ingredients that are raised, farmed and hunted in the immediate vicinity of his remote restaurant. The food served at Faviken - from the dairy to the meat to the vegetables - is harvested, butchered and preserved by hand using the most natural and primitive methods possible, and Nilsson is in factor of simple cooking methods such as roasting over open coals. This approach results in the highly creative food and intense flavors of which, far from seeming traditional, are remarkable.

Résumé:
In Sweden, the Facit brand is as well known as IBM or Olivetti. Based in Atvidaberg, the company produced mechanical calculators, typewriters and office furniture between 1922 and 1998. By the 1970s, the company had grown from a local family business into one of the world’s leading manufacturers. The company-sponsored football team AFF was playing in the first division. But a few years later the Facit organization had disappeared—worn down by global capitalism. ''The Facit Model: Globalism, Localism, Identity'' looks at this peculiar example of corporate modernism through the printed matter produced in Facit’s in-house print shops, culled from FACIT’s archives. Type specimens, manuals, advertising leaflets and product catalogs bear witness to a culture which feels increasingly distant, and yet helped to define many of the codes and forms familiar to us from today’s world of work.

Résumé:
Architects Mikael Bergquist and Olof Michélsen explore the evolution of Frank’s designs for single-family homes over the years, and they investigate the influences that shaped his work, such as Adolf Loos’s “spatial plan” concept, Le Corbusier’s ideas, and Hermann Muthesius’s groundbreaking book The English House. The authors also look at Frank’s architectural concepts of movement and his use of stairs in residential buildings. The book also includes an in-depth examination of six of Frank’s houses, including both built projects— the Villas Claëson and Wehtje in Falsterbo, Sweden, and Villa Beer in Vienna—and unrealized ones—House for Vienna XIII, House MS in Los Angeles, and Fantasy House 9 (Accidental House). This section includes images and plans of each of the houses and a close analysis of their specific characteristics. A complete catalog of Frank’s single-family houses rounds out the book.

Résumé:
Alexandra Kollontai was a prominent Russian revolutionary, a commissar of Social Welfare after the October revolution in 1917, and a long-term Soviet ambassador to Sweden. As a cofounder of the Zhenotdel, the "Women's Department" in the communist party, she introduced abortion rights, secularized marriage, and provided paid maternity leave. Kollontai considered "comradely love" to be an important political force, elemental in shaping social bonds beyond the limitations of property relations. 'Red Love' stems from a yearlong research by CuratorLab at Konstfack University together with Tensta konsthall, that led up to Dora García's exhibition Red Love and its related public programing. A number of artists and thinkers revisit Kollontai's ideas on the politics of love and their relation to current political, social, and feminist struggles. The publication also includes the biographical play Kollontai from 1977 by distinguished Swedish writer Agneta Pleijel.

Résumé:
From the Tower of Babel to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, from European cathedrals to the Twin Towers and the currently scandalous Freedom Tower, highrises have always been a symbol of mankind's cultural aspirations and technological achievements. The biennial International Highrise Award specifies that an ideal contemporary tower should make exceptional use of aesthetics, design and technology, and show cost-effectiveness, sustainability and integration into town planning. This album of the 2006 contenders honors foremost the winners, Jean Nouvel and Fermin Vasquez, who designed the Torre Agbar building in Barcelona. The Agbar Tower's distinctive rounded crown had already earned it a nominee spot in Cabinet Magazine's Most Phallic Building in the World Contest. Here, the Highrise Award's more serious honor cites the building's "expressive shape," "pulsating dynamism" and "a multi-layer outer skin that generates its varied and exciting appearance." Runners-up include Santiago Calatrava's Turning Torso in Malmo, Sweden.

Résumé:
The ''Moving mountains' book is a selection of material enquiries of the Swedish landscape, narrated through a series of texts, recipes and visual materials that ask how we can reconfigure and inform our understanding of the land that surrounds us. The structure of ''Moving mountains'' focuses on opposites: mining in the North and agriculture in the South, the Lapland fells and the Skåne plains, wanted and unwanted industrial materials, new and old approaches to the land. Photographs by Joshua Olley take the reader through portraits of Skåne, Halland, Uppland, Södermanland, Norrbotten and Lappland. Although the investigation was based in Sweden, the concept is reproducible, which comes across during collaborative moments in the book. The design of the book by Kiosk Studio, with its thermolacquer heat sensitive cover, directly responds to the content, meaning the narrative is as much a visual investigation as it is a text based one.
