Résumé:
Marking the first in a new series of exhibitions, this project from the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art highlights three design studios with biochemistry and biology at the core of their practice. London-based ecoLogicStudio focuses on climate and carbon neutrality, and how photosynthesis can be incorporated into architecture. Atelier LUMA is the research design branch of LUMA Arles, mapping and identifying the local resources of the unique bioregion of Camargue to build its own studio. Finally, the Ithaca, New York–based Jenny Sabin Studio uses theory and knowledge from biology and mathematics to help develop new digital tools and structures that work in interaction with people and nature. This catalog highlights each firm’s most important projects alongside three conversations between the studio founders and an expert architectural

Résumé:
''Oceans'' cover more than 70 percent of the Earth’s surface, dividing and connecting humans, who carry saltwater in their blood, sweat, and tears. They also represent a powerful nonhuman force, rising, flooding, heating and raging in unprecedented ways as the climate crisis unfolds. Artists have envisioned the sea as a sublime wilderness, home to mythical creatures and bizarre species, a source of life and death, a site of new beginnings and tragic endings, both wondrous and disastrous. From migration to melting ice caps, the sea is omnipresent in international news and politics, leaking into popular culture and proliferating in recent art and exhibitions. This anthology gathers artists and writers to address the ocean not only as a theme but as a major agent of artistic and curatorial methods.

Résumé:
In response to climate change, architects have been seeking a contemporary expression for durable, solid and homogeneous wall structures made of clay, wood, brick, concrete and recycled materials. This book follows 25 projects to analyze construction methods that predominantly involve materials that have a single origin and can be easily dismantled. It looks at a variety of different ways and scales in which architects have dealt with issues of mass and materiality, both in terms of design and construction. Structured according to the specific materials, the book allows direct comparisons, and renders visible solid building typologies and forms. Numerous drawings, developed especially for this book, document the projects. Two essays as well as interviews with Pepe Marquez and Arno Richter examine the strategies and background of monolithic architecture and solid construction methods.

Résumé:
In recent years, the intersection between ecological thought and contemporary art has sparked a generative reflection encompassing sustainability, conservation, and survivability. Confronted with the climate catastrophe, ecology questions the feasibility of conserving collapsing ecosystems as well as our imperative of survival, alongside other humans, and non-humans, amidst the ruins of a world we have already irreversibly altered. In November 2023, the second edition of the Museo Ventuno conference, Museums at the Ecological Turn, curated for AMACI by Caterina Riva together with NERO, brought together voices and perspectives from inside and outside of the art institutions to intercept and amplify the debate around these issues. Reflecting on the role of museums and how they must embrace new forms of responsibility and awareness, this book gathers contributions from curators, philosophers and activists, artists and writers.

Résumé:
With buildings and cities being one of the primary accelerators of climate change, the tightening of urban environments is one of the mechanisms by which architects and urban planners can affect change. To date, models of urban densification and compact cities have been focused on sites of urban consumption—residential, commercial, civic and social spaces. Little thought has been given to the vast productive hinterlands around the world that support cities, through the growing of food, generation of power, production of goods and disposal of waste. Working through three scales of analysis, across three cities in the Asia Pacific Region, and deploying varying design research techniques ranging from critical observation to speculative scenario modeling, the book presents a series of projects that seek to retro-fit an existing urban environment with a productive program.
