Résumé:
This instalment deals with the domestic aspects of cities. Everything related to the human home and habitat, the scale of the house, domestic elements and their processes, people’s own universes, and things usually hidden and private are among the topics of this diverse investigation. In an interview, Andrés Jaque claims that what happens in domestic interiors is very relevant for our societies. Our private domestic spaces are becoming increasingly public, impacted by the Internet’s growing role in the city, from Airbnb to new forms of shared living and working. With contributions by Casco, Herman Hertzberger, Justinien Tribillon, Cookies, Lucía Jalón Oyarzun, and more.

Texte zur Kunst 102: Fashion

Résumé:
Art and fashion have always been interrelated. And it’s due to fashion’s ability to quickly capture social shifts that the art world has repeatedly turned to it. But as Texte zur Kunst No. 102 proposes, it is fashion’s protagonists, recently, that have been markedly drawing on art conceptual practices (e.g., parasitism, collective authorship, détournement, and forms of institutional critique) as they push back against the pressures of a hyper-accelerated fashion market. In this issue, TzK examines, also, how the industry’s current volume is a product of its late-'00s promise of online democratization; the changing function of such long-held value designations as “luxury,” “discount,” and “underground,” and the role of “real”-er bodies in a climate wherein models are preferably “nodels” or “othered” bodies, hyper-individualised to stand out in the stream.

Résumé:
The Bauhaus Dessau Foundation devoted its seventh issue to an international group of contemporary collectives, unorthodox thinkers and solo artists in architecture, design and art. The publication addresses communal and cooperative models established at the Bauhaus such as Hannes Meyer’s co-op principle in the USSR and Chile, and anonymity and conflict in Gropius’s architects collaborative (TAC) in the USA while looking at the options and potentials of collective design today. It sheds light on the link between the Bauhaus and the upcoming Architecture Biennale in Venice, considers why architects in Spain currently invest more in collective design practices and discusses how current cooperative societies influence the collective identity around the world. Contributors include Pelin Tan, Alejandro Aravena, Vesna Meštric, David F. Maulen, Richard Anderson, Thomas Demand, Chris Dercon, DE - 9 architects, artists and urban planners in Berlin, Estudio SIC, Spain, plus many more.

Résumé:
This monographic issue spotlights the rise of Belgian architects Kersten Geers and David Van Severen. Prior to establishing their own practice in 2002, the duo honed their skills in offices in Rotterdam, Ghent, and Brussels. An economy of means is a prominent feature of their work, and they display a strong proclivity for precision. Their interest in materials, as well as their attitude towards past and present, are likewise ubiquitous qualities that are reflected in their work. Besides an in-depth interview, the issue features several projects, including private homes, an office refurbishment in Kortrijk, Campus RTS in Lausanne, and the Centre for Traditional Music in Bahrain.
