Projet
AP174.S1.2006.D2
Description:
This project file documents unbuilt designs by Testa & Weiser for Strand Tower (2006), a continuation of the Carbon Tower research project. Various iterations of Strand Tower are woven out of carbon fibre according to a pattern algorithmically generated by the Weaver software. “The complexity of the final design is produced by arraying a basic fiber bundle of 114 strands; stacked 70 times for a total of approximately 8,000 strands.”[1] The file contains a large number of digital files which document the conceptual and design development of the project, fabrication of 3D printed physical models, and exhibition of the project at several museums and galleries, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. The file also includes six physical models produced by the 3D printing firm 3D Systems. Sources: [1] "Strand Tower project and credit text" (AP174.S1.2006.D2.007). Testa & Weiser records, Centre Canadien d’Architecture/Canadian Centre for Architecture.

In Absence of Bodies (2011)
AP207.S1.2011.PR04
Description:
The project series documents the installation "In Absence of Bodies" designed by Pettena in 2011 for the Stromerein Performance Festival in Zurich, Switzerland. The installation consists of clothes lines hung in the main square of the city and refers to Pettena's previous installation "Laundry" in 1969. In this case "[...] it is not laundry that, being hung out in the main square of the city, polemically ‘violate’ the context of the power. Rather, it is a statement on the body in its absence, as the performance takes place in a dance and theatre festival where the body is always protagonist." [1] A second edition was also presented at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in Salt Lake City, in 2013. The project series contains a drawing of the installation, a sketch, details for the hanging lines, a printout of a photo montage of the installation, and photographs and a video of the installation. Projet
CI005.S1.1921.PR1
Description:
German architectural critic, Adolf Behne, requested Oud submit a design for a private house that was to be built for private clients in Berlin-Grünewald in 1921. Although Oud's designs never came to fruition, the project promoted his international reputation, with his designs circulating in lectures and publications. Behn, who maintained a correspondence with Oud, helped introduce Oud to the international scene with a positive review of his designs, including one for Villa Kallenbach. Oud's design was in stark contrast to the prevailing contemporary German aesthetic of Expressionism. Oud created a functional symmetric design for a detached, spacious country dwelling; he placed the building toward the anterior of the site and angled the front away from the street to take advantage of the sunlight and garden space (Taverne et al. 2001, 312-317). Oud made some modifications based on the client's desire to enlarge the ground floor in February, 1922. Project series includes drawings of plans and elevations.
