Résumé:
Educational spaces for children have certainly evolved through the years, yet today the search to understand the processes involved in learning and teaching – including the role of the physical environment – is progressing like never before. The resurgence in recent years that the design of quality spaces for both learning and play has experienced is tied with advances in technology and an increase in cross-disciplinary inputs in architecture. This special issue looks at sixteen recent examples at the forefront of new concepts in spaces for children, including works by Mario Cucinella, Feld72, PAL Design Group, KLab Architecture, Tezuka Architects, Omgeving + Carve, and more.

The concepts of public and private are not diametrically opposed, but rather exist on a continuum. The success of public architecture is determined by the interaction between the two, for both the individual and the collective. Here ''C3'' considers how public ownership and privatisation play out across several typologies, from open spaces and swimming pools, to mixed-use buildings and museums. Among the featured projects are the Amos Rex Museum by JKMM Architects, Dominique Perrault's Paris Longchamp Racecourse, Aarhus Harbour Bath by BIG, the Palestinian Museum by Heneghan Peng Architects, and the Apple Piazza Liberty by Foster + Partners.

124 minutes, color stereo in french with english subtitles. In Play Time, Tati's character, M. Hulot, and a group of American tourists attempt to navigate a futuristic Paris constructed of straight lines, modernist glass and steel high-rise buildings, multi-lane roadways, and cold, artificial furnishings. In this environment, only the irrepressible nonconformity of human nature and an occasional appreciation for the good old days breathe life into an otherwise sterile urban lifestyle. Modern industrial technologies, accepted as necessary by society, are represented by Tati as obstructions to daily life and an interference to natural human interaction.

Audio-CD, playtime 50 minutes, 35 tracks. Including 8-pages booklet with drawings of the recorder, photos, and texts by Oswald Wiener and Jeremy Roht. For these field recordings of the nightly chanting of sled dogs from the Yukon-territory, Oswald Wiener did build a recorder by himself, which is, also at extreme outside temperatures, reacting to acoustic signals: "The peculiar enjoyability of this music, which - in contrast to much contemporary human music - stands the test of repeated listenings, forces one to the conclusion that, to the dogs at least, an abstract aesthetic experience constitutes the 'figure' of their play." Résumé:
Rem Koolhaas' spaces for living, including his apartments and houses, are collected for the first time in book format. This new book highlights this important aspect of his work: with texts, plans and photographs, it presents the Patiovilla in Rotterdam, the Villa Dall'Ava in Paris, the Dutch House in Holten, the Maison à Bordeaux, and the Nexus Housing in Fukuoka/Japan. Their common theme is an intense search for freedom. As with all of Koolhaas' work, a clever play with openings, transparencies and transparent and opaque surfaces makes these living spaces permeable to the variations of light, weather, and function.

Résumé:
A publication based on "Pandemic objects", an editorial project that compiles and reflects on objects that have taken on new meaning and purpose during the Covid-19 pandemic. During times of pandemic, a host of everyday often-overlooked "objects" are suddenly charged with new urgency. Toilet paper becomes a symbol of public panic, a forehead thermometer a tool for social control, convention centres become hospitals, while parks become contested public commodities. By compiling these objects and reflecting on their changing purpose and meaning, the project aims to paint a unique picture of the pandemic and the pivotal role objects play within it.
