Résumé:
Since the 1990's, Olafur Eliasson has been exploring cognitive and physical phenomena as we know them from the natural sciences and nature. He uses both technically sophisticated equipment and deceptively simple means such as water or light to create artificial landscapes and moments of perception that let viewers perceive or reenact natural phenomena. Their strongly atmospheric but entirely constructed nature makes viewers become painfully conscious of how far modern civilization has progressed from immediate experience; they question the acceptance of authenticity in the area of perception. This book, published in an edition of only 1,500 copies and conceived in cooperation with the artist, features a series of landscape photographs by Eliasson from his native Iceland, exploring the limits and conventions of our traditional view of landscape. They show that our perception of nature has been fundamentally affected by cultural influences, memories, and expectations.

Résumé:
Archivio opens its third editorial cycle: four thematic issues, each curated by a Guest Editor with deep expertise, offering access to worlds where past, present, and future converge. The third issue, Archivio N°11, focuses on technology and is curated by Massimo Banzi, co-founder of Arduino, together with Cecilia Botta, technology historian and Head of Memories at Promemoria Group, the magazine's publisher. Daniela Hamaui oversees editorial direction, while Alessandro Gori shapes the art direction. The cover, designed by artist Ailadi, pays tribute to the early aesthetics of the digital age. Created using PETSCII, the character set of Commodore 8-bit computers, it evokes the visual language of technology in its formative years. Archivio N°11 maps the international landscape of technology archives, tracing the roots of the digital revolution and exploring the places where our technological past is preserved, along with the collectors and institutions that recognized its cultural value.

Résumé:
Building in existing fabric conserves resources, saves energy, and reduces carbon emissions – good reasons to choose conversion over new build. Yet there is another, less tangible dimension: time. With additions and adaptations, patina and cracks, it leaves its mark and stores memories in the buildings. To carry these stories forward requires sensitivity to materials, spaces, and histories. Deciding what remains and what is replaced demands careful judgment. Some interventions are so discreet that only trained eyes notice them, often compared by architects to the restoration of a classic car. Others are more radical: ceiling panels titled and set diagonally into a room, or large atriums cut into the existing architecture. At times, we may need to rethink our ingrained aesthetics and ask whether materials with a problematic reputation – such as fibre cement panels (Eternit) – can still be used, or whether cut edges might be left uncovered.

Résumé:
After Duncan Grant died in 1978, Charleston Farmhouse in Sussex lost the last of its original Bloomsbury Group residents. With its fate unclear, the house and contents remained undisturbed for many years. In May 1981, Kim Marsland (then an art student) made a visit to take notes and photographs for an essay on the Bloomsbury Group. Her unique record of Charleston shows the house just as Grant left it cluttered with years of painting, collecting and family life. These twenty-six photographs capture the atmosphere of a house full of memories and artistic importance. They also show Charleston before its restoration, allowing the reader a peek into a lost past. Some pictures will be familiar to lovers of Charleston Farmhouse, but others (such as the ones of the garden) less so. This beautifully produced book of previously unseen photographs is the perfect keepsake for Bloomsbury Group aficionados.

Résumé:
Another volume in the photographer's popular series of visual diaries, What We Have Seen is all about people and places in the long and convivial life of Robert Frank (born 1924). Opening and closing with the zoom on the dial of a clock tower, serving as a reminder of the silent but constant passage of time, the book is laden with memories and pictures of old photographs. Like a leitmotif carrying us through the images, the word "souvenir" pops up under a magnifying glass positioned on a French text as a reading device. Frank's house in Mabou is once again portrayed as a popular retreat for people such as Jack Kerouac, Gerhard Steidl, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs and Frank's family members. As ever, Frank's visual diaries constitute an important part of both his later work and developments in the ongoing art of the photobook.
