Anyone who hearts New York will love this illustrated homage to the city. Artist, author, and New Yorker Julia Rothman brings humor and tenderness to an eclectic assortment of historical tidbits (how the New York Public Library lion sculptures got their names), idiosyncratic places to visit (where to find the tennis courts at Grand Central Station), interviews with locals (thoughts on love from a Hasidic Jewish landlord), and personal recollections from growing up in the Bronx (fried fish at Johnny's Reef)—all illuminated in her beloved signature style.

Résumé:
Despite the modern ascendance of the sans serif, serif typefaces, most notably Times Roman, still dominate printed matter and retain a strong presence in screen-based communication. The Eternal Letter is an illustrated examination of the enduring influence of, and many variations on, the classical Roman capital letter.

Résumé:
Following on the heels of Mecanoo's School of Economics and Management and OMA/Rem Koolhaas's Educatorium is the recently opened Minnaert Building designed by Neutelings Riedijk. Energy-saving, sustainable and low-maintenance are the qualities informing this singularly designed rust-red building with its columns shaped like letters. These qualities are best expressed in the main hall. Here rainwater streaming in through large rooflights is collected in an enormous basin, thereby making a major contribution to the heat recovery and natural ventilation in the building.

Résumé:
In the mid-1980s, the Canadian art group General Idea created a symbol using the acronym AIDS, arranging the letters in a manner that resembled Robert Indiana's famous LOVE logo. This launched Imagevirus, a project of paintings, sculptures, videos, posters, and exhibitions that investigated the term AIDS as both word and image, using the mechanism of viral transmission. The Imagevirus spread like a virus, producing an image epidemic in urban spaces from Manhattan to Sydney. Bordowitz explores the virus as idea, as tactic, and as identity.
