Résumé:
"aphasia" is divided into the four seasons, ver (spring), hiems (winter), autumnus (fall), and aestas (summer), symbolizing in this context the various stages that bridge the moments before, during, and after transformational moments. The linearity of the seasons is disrupted throughout the book through the use of translucent pages, highlighting their transformation. In ver the book opens with a stream of dreamy and very light images, representing peace and stasis, these are the moments before. In hiems, the pallet turns very cold, the images are set on black, with various figures in states of flight or distress. Autumus presents moments of both discovery and decay, dual aspects of healing processes, and finally, aestas, features a return to the vitality of the outside world.

Résumé:
Building on Jeanne Gang’s recent book of the same name, "The art of architectural grafting" explores her concept for bringing new life to existing buildings through strategic additions that expand on structures’ original capacity and minimise their carbon footprint. The horticultural practice of grafting connects two separate plants, one old and one new, so they can grow and flourish as one. This centuries-old technique is still employed today in the quest for more fruitful, tastier and more resilient plant varieties. Gang’s concept of architectural grafting applies the sensibility and principles of this approach to design at multiple scales. Rather than demolition and new construction, this approach focuses on the transformation and expansion of existing structures, thereby preserving both historic fabric and material resources.

''C3 436'' explores architecture shaped by place, purpose, and poetic depth. New Projects chapter features Leopold Banchini Architects who craft an off-grid house inspired by ancestral wisdom in the Moroccan desert, while a modernist library by Jakob + MacFarlane reimagines the Tree of Knowledge. Seung H-Sang’s meditative designs reflect an architecture of boundaries and the afterlife, portrayed here in the Order of St. Benedict Waegwan Abbey. K-Projects illustrates layered stories: Seoul’s urban transformation, subtle civic centers, and cultural roots nurtured in agricultural settings. Featuring Terminal 7 Architects, 818 architects, Chak Chak Studio and Young-pil Kim + YuMi Hyun. Across interviews and essays, architects and critics reflect on building with memory, identity, and imagination in a rapidly shifting world.

Résumé:
This research by a+t research group proposes an alternative reading of the history of housing. Rather than being organised around architectural styles or movements, it is structured through five essential conditions that define the lived experience of inhabitation: Opulence, Precarity, Dignity, Prosperity, and Fraternity. Drawing on 178 case studies—ranging from the onset of the Industrial Revolution in the mid-eighteenth century to the second decade of the twenty-first—this critical chronology maps the evolution of collective housing in relation to the social demands of each historical period. The timeline identifies key patterns in housing design, recurring spatial loops that transcend eras, advances in construction technologies, and the transformation of the domestic unit as a nucleus of cohabitation.

Pairing particular works of art with specific innovations in real estate development, The Speculative City reveals the connections between real estate and contemporary art as they constructed Los Angeles’s present-day cityscape. From banal parking lots to Frank Gehry’s designs for artists’ studios and museums, Newbury examines pivotal interventions by artists and architects, city officials and cultural philanthropists, concluding with an examination of how, in the wake of the 2008 global credit crisis, contemporary art emerged as a financial asset to fuel private wealth and urban gentrification. Both a history of the transformation of the Southland and a forensic examination of works of art, 'The Speculative City' is a rich complement to the California chronicles by such writers as Rebecca Solnit and Mike Davis.

Résumé:
The United States Department of Agriculture Pomological Watercolor Collection encompasses 7,497 botanical watercolor paintings of evolving fruit and nut varieties, alongside specimens introduced by USDA plant explorers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Assembled between 1886 and 1942, the collection's remarkable, botanically accurate watercolors were executed by some 21 professional artists (including nine women). Authored largely before the widespread application of photography, the watercolors were intended to aid accurate identification and examination of fruit varietals, for the nation’s fruit growers. Documenting the transformation of American pomology, the science of fruit breeding and production, and the horticultural innovations accountable for contemporary fruit cultivation and consumption, the USDA’s collection offers fascinating anthropological and horticultural insights concerning the fruits we ecstatically devour, and why.

Résumé:
For years, Montreal photographer Normand Rajotte has been exploring an area of a few square kilometers at the foot of Mont Megantic, near La Patrie, a village in south-eastern Quebec, Canada. Produced between 2004 and 2010, the series "Comme un murmure" (Like a whisper) reveals the profound connection that the artist has established over the years with this woodland. Little by little, image after image, Rajotte has taken root in these several hectares of woods, to the point of merging with them. Observing the growth of vegetation or traces of animal activity, he photographs the perpetual transformation of 'his' forest.Comme un murmure testifies to the powerful feeling that unites man and animal, when one rejoins the other as he immerses himself deeply into nature.

Résumé:
During a period of three years, Taiyo Onorato and Nico Krebs traveled several months through the United States, working "on the road" on the photo series "The great unreal". The photographic work deals with reality and the fabrication of reality. The geography of America serves as both setting and fertile ground for the examination. Mysticism and demystification are important aspects in this process, as is working with a rich inventory of visual icons that can be continually deconstructed and manipulated. The working method of both photographers is based on interventions prescribed mostly by happenstance and change. Through repetition and associative placement, the sometimes crude, sometimes subtle interventions begin to link to one another, establishing an exciting transformation of reality that only hesitatingly reveals itself to the viewer.
