Résumé:
Following on the heels of Mecanoo's School of Economics and Management and OMA/Rem Koolhaas's Educatorium is the recently opened Minnaert Building designed by Neutelings Riedijk. Energy-saving, sustainable and low-maintenance are the qualities informing this singularly designed rust-red building with its columns shaped like letters. These qualities are best expressed in the main hall. Here rainwater streaming in through large rooflights is collected in an enormous basin, thereby making a major contribution to the heat recovery and natural ventilation in the building.

Résumé:
In the mid-1980s, the Canadian art group General Idea created a symbol using the acronym AIDS, arranging the letters in a manner that resembled Robert Indiana's famous LOVE logo. This launched Imagevirus, a project of paintings, sculptures, videos, posters, and exhibitions that investigated the term AIDS as both word and image, using the mechanism of viral transmission. The Imagevirus spread like a virus, producing an image epidemic in urban spaces from Manhattan to Sydney. Bordowitz explores the virus as idea, as tactic, and as identity.

This book examines how designers today are creating typography with the aid of a multitude of different techniques. From manual lettering, calligraphy and collage to manipulative time exposure of photographs, designers are developing fonts for the moment which are irregular and often accidental. Blocks of ice are even being staged as real characters and paper cut forms and shadows metamorphose into letters and spatial installations. This book shows such cuttingedge examples of elusive scripts that are being translated into serially employable alphabets to be used digitally with the computer.

Résumé:
Argentinian artist Mirtha Dermisache wrote dozens of books, hundreds of letters and postcards, and countless texts. Not a single one was legible, yet, in their promixity to language, they all resonate with a mysterious potential for meaning. Using ink on paper, Dermisache invented an array of graphic languages, each with its own unique lexical and syntactic structure, laden with poetic and sometimes visceral suggestion. Some writings feel like nets or knots or transcriptions of seismic waves; some are scrawled with seeming abandon while others are meticulously inked in a refined, almost musical script.

Résumé:
Reprinted facsimile edition of a masterpiece of modern typography. "For the Voice" is considered to be Lissitzky's masterpiece of modern typography which was originally published in Berlin in 1923. As Lissitzky explained, "I have tried to create an equivalent unity using the poem and the typography," this book is a magnificent example of collaboration between poet and artist. Lissitzky provided visual interpretation of Mayakovsky's poems and each of them is accompanied by a dynamic visual composition with symbolic meaning. Printed letters in red, black and white tones become pictorial signs, contributing to each poem's identity.
