Résumé:
A fully revised, updated and expanded edition of this survey of the projects that define the architectural renaissance of Britain’s capital at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Illustrated in colour throughout are not just the headline-grabbing works such as the British Airways London Eye, Tate Modern, the Millennium Bridge and the Swiss Re tower (winner of the Stirling Prize in 2004), but also a wide variety of smaller-scale projects such as schools, libraries, shops and private houses. Résumé:
Anish Kapoor's output ranges from works on a human scale, including powdered pigment sculptures and convex mirrors, to massive installations, both inside buildings and in the landscape. Taking on the challenge of the cavernous space of the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern in London, Kapoor created his largest sculpture ever: built of PVC membrane, stetched taut across massive steel hoops and hovering in mid-air, the sculpture dominates the space in a way no other artist has attempted. The creative process behind this ambitious project is documented here in specially commissioned photographs, drawings, and maquettes, and further explored in conversations with Kapoor, and Cecil Balmond's essay on the process of engineering this project.

BRUTHER is the Paris-based architectural studio launched by Stéphanie Bru and Alexandre Theriot in 2007. Describing architecture as a ''combat sport'', the duo rose to international prominence in 2014. Competitions, experiments, and investigations, are all part of a work process they see as a strategic game, a balancing act between abstraction and function, diversity and uniformity, opacity and transparency. This edition presents the full extent of their work through 29 projects, ranging from collective housing and cultural and educational institutions to pavilions and exhibitions. While many are small in scale or unbuilt, they nevertheless allow an in-depth look at the practice.

Résumé:
Marjan Teeuwen creates large-scale architectural installations in buildings that are subsequently demolished following her interventions. She disrupts the materials of construction and structure and builds new artistic images in which floors are tilted, walls are removed, and stacks of debris either run rampant or are painstakingly ordered into architectural sculptures. Constructive forces go hand in hand with destruction and decay in Teeuwen’s work. This book presents several installations from her ‘Destroyed House’ series, including the recent project ‘Destroyed House Gaza’. By choosing to work in occupied territory, Teeuwen allows the socio-political context to penetrate her method.

The historical continuity of spinal catastrophism, traced across multiform encounters between philosophy, psychology, biology, and geology. Drawing on cryptic intimations in the work of J. G. Ballard, Georges Bataille, William Burroughs, André Leroi-Gourhan, Elaine Morgan, and Friedrich Nietzsche, in the late twentieth century Daniel Barker formulated the axioms of spinal catastrophism: If human morphology, upright posture, and the possibility of language are the ramified accidents of natural history, then psychic ailments are ultimately afflictions of the spine, which itself is a scale model of biogenetic trauma, a portable map of the catastrophic events that shaped that atrocity exhibition of evolutionary traumata, the sick orthograde talking mammal.

What is the actual difference between architectural and interior design? To answer the question, this book looks into the actions of interior disciplines, to understand what they do, not only what they are. In doing so, it studies them through intersection, to identify the essential principles that characterise this kind of design. From typology to topology, from context to palimpsest, from space to place, the result is a story – particularly focused on the Italian tradition – of the ideas and projects that defined a particular design sensibility that knows no limits of context or scale.

''After nearly two decades of implementing digital tools, we have reached a new platform where digital design and robotic production are the norm, and by extension, digital craft and integral design are as the future. This has been particularly important in the rethinking of advanced digital design processes. As showcased and examined in this volume, from the earliest projects and regardless of scale, Archi-Tectonics has valued performance over form, design intelligence over style. Through prototypes and mock-ups, process documentation and testimonials, the book presents 10 current and recent projects that celebrate the particular and singular over the ideal and universal.''

Résumé:
This publication documents an exhibition of Donald Judd's work held at David Zwirner in New York in 2011, which presented works drawn from the artist's seminal 1989 exhibition held at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Germany. Consisting of 12 identically scaled anodized aluminum works, the historic exhibition at the Kunsthalle Baden-Baden was significant in that it marked the first time Judd used colored anodized aluminum in such a large, floor-mounted format. The combinations of materials, dividers and colors--which differ from box to box--thus determine the singular nature of each work within a finite number of variable possibilities. As such, these works comprise one of Judd's few explorations of color on a large scale.

Over almost thirty years, the Irish O’Donnell + Tuomey have forged a career specializing in public projects that pay special attention to the civic role of architecture. After coinciding at the office of James Stirling in London, Sheila O’Donnell (1953) and John Tuomey (1954) set up their own studio in 1988 in Dublin, where they started working on projects to renew the city’s urban center and from where they now design large cultural buildings in London or Budapest. Their work has expanded in scale and scope, furthering their commitment with material quality and formal coherence, and has been distinguished with the prestigious RIBA Gold Medal in 2015.
