Résumé:
The park beckons us to leave our daily routines behind and enter its zone of endless possibility. In the park, the usual rules don’t apply. In the park, what matters most is the moment, and losing track of time to the timelessness of imagination, invention, observation, and chance. In the park, there are risks, of course, but also the deepest rewards, to be found in the freedom experienced through play that is both embodied and participatory. It is not the lone "I," but the "we" that goes to the park, where chance encounters might suddenly become moments of deep connection—however fleeting—with others, nature, and ourselves. Originally published in Sweden, this first English–language edition printed in Italy on thick cream paper offers an immersive experience of transformation, longing, and transcendence to readers of all ages, while reminding adult readers in particular of the everyday miracle contained in encountering another consciousness.

Résumé:
The second installment in the Dongola Architecture Series, dedicated to the great voices of contemporary architecture in the Arab culture, delves into the life and work of the distinguished Syrian architect and architecture historian Nasser Rabbat. This publication underscores the profound connection between Rabbat's upbringing in Syria during a period of significant political transformation and his development as a critical thinker and storyteller. His journey from a reluctant choice to study architecture to becoming a prominent figure as the Director of the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture at MIT illustrates his unceasing commitment to expanding the horizons of historiography, particularly within the realm of non-Western voices. "Nasser Rabbat : Critical encounters" seeks to deepen our understanding of the urgency of history to enable the possibilities of questioning and reimagining dominant powers. Professor Rabbat's work presents a compelling account within the broader context of Arab thinkers actively reshaping their region's narrative and pushing for a more inclusive and diverse historical perspective.

Résumé:
"Leaf plan" will illustrate comprehensive design approaches to address climate change, urban metabolism, temporary uses, landscape multifunctionality, cohabitation through new modes of urban design based on criteria of flexibility and adaptability. Trento is the experimental territory where the innovative process, methodologies and theoretical reflection have been tested above the framework of the three-year research project "TUT Trento Urban Transformation". The book is structured around the five challenges (Ecological, Accessible, Smart, Welcoming and Beauty) proposed by the TUT research group for the Trento Leaf Plan, the new metabolic plan for the city of Trento. Beside the innovative field-test experimentations, the holistic methodological approach proposed by the book will be transferable and adapted in other metropolitan contexts to enhance the urban ecological transition. The publication, edited by the TUT research group, will include theoretical essays, critical selection of reference projects, operational tools, and interviews with experts in ecological transition, sustainable mobility, co-design approach, sharing, and urban resilience.

Résumé:
"Perspecta 34" explores the temporary relationship between architecture and the larger contexts within which social crisis and cultural transformation take place. The issue examines many questions associated with modernism, including the limits of utopian urban planning, and considers alternatives to space as the dominant organizing concept for architecture. It views the contemporary as a fluid practice in which games, intuition, collective imagination, and style emerge alongside conventional architectural approaches as ways to comprehend and shape the temporary landscape. Case studies--on the Olympics, Belgrade protests, refugee housing--ask how temporary events intensify the possibilities and limitations for architectural innovation. Perspecta 34 also explores the built environment as an ecology of change consisting of dynamic economies, movements of people, and overlapping systems of authority. The issue includes a portfolio of twentieth-century temporary projects that reflect changing ideas of fabrication, the deployment of the architectural object, and architecture's relationship to social and cultural practices.

Résumé:
How does a house shape experience? How does architecture establish a practice of living? Architect Sebastiano Brandolini invites readers on a meditative tour of his family’s house on the Sardinian coast, describing everything from the geology of the rocks beneath, to the history of the surrounding villages, to the way the shifting light measures the day. More than the story of a single summer home written by an accomplished architect, this is a study of how place, the built environment, and daily practice make up our lives, at the most minute level of detail. Recalling the essays of Walter Benjamin, Bill Bryson, Rebecca Solnit, and Lawrence Weschler, Brandolini’s writing weaves literature, art history, and the transformation of Sardinia since the 1960s into a single fabric. "The House at Capo d’Orso" is not only a study of architecture and life in the built environment, but of family life, and the way the Brandolini family adapted themselves to the house they built.

In City/Art anthropologists, literary and cultural critics, a philosopher, and an architect explore how creative practices continually reconstruct the urban scene in Latin America. The contributors, all Latin Americanists, describe how creativity—broadly conceived to encompass urban design, museums, graffiti, film, music, literature, architecture, performance art, and more—combines with nationalist rhetoric and historical discourse to define Latin American cities. Taken together, the essays model different ways of approaching Latin America’s urban centers not only as places that inspire and house creative practices but also as ongoing collective creative endeavors themselves. The essays range from an examination of how differences of scale and point of view affect people’s experience of everyday life in Mexico City to a reflection on the transformation of a prison into a shopping mall in Uruguay, and from an analysis of Buenos Aires’ preoccupation with its own status and cultural identity to a consideration of what Miami means to Cubans in the United States.

This monograph brings together a selection of works by Benedetta Tagliabue – EMBT, an internationally acknowledged architecture studio founded in Barcelona in 1994 by Enric Miralles (1955–2000) and Benedetta Tagliabue (born 1963) that has shaped the face of European architecture. With projects such as the Santa Caterina market and neighborhood in Barcelona, the Parliament in Scotland, the transformation of the old port of Hamburg in Hafencity and the new church and parish complex San Giacomo in Ferrara, this book presents the EMBT studio's methodology and architectural approach. Through a collection of visual materials, texts and narratives, this book weaves notable projects to showcase the design philosophy and thought process of Benedetta and Enric's studio through an approach to understanding space, connecting people, narratives and locations through an integrated architectural and contemporary lens. With a poetic yet sustainable design approach, Tagliabue and her studio reshape the role of public buildings in urban settings.
