Résumé:
This Is Not a House showcases recent projects that represent the vanguard of architects creating innovative spaces for living in the twenty-first century. Dan Rubinstein and the editors of the Amsterdam-based magazine have selected projects on five continents that will shape how we think of domestic life for a long time to come. Where the great experimenters of the last century were stripping away ornamentation and creating free-flowing spaces for the first time, today’s pioneers are researching the potential of new materials and techniques to push the boundaries of environmental sustainability, as well as creating new forms and bold, sophisticated explorations in the adaptive reuse of spaces originally designed for any number of other purposes.

Résumé:
This monograph offers a comprehensive overview of more than 25 years of unique creations by French Portuguese artist-architect Didier Fiúza Faustino (born 1968), who works at the intersection of the body and architectural space. Since 1995, Faustino has been developing a multifaceted approach ranging from installation to experimentation, from visual art to the creation of multisensory spaces and buildings. The publication is divided into three main parts. The first is designed as a magazine with fake advertisements created by Faustino’s Bureau des Mésarchitectures. The second focuses on the agency’s manifesto projects. The third part shows the realizations of these projects. In between these sections are the agency’s manifesto texts, as well as contributions from various authors analyzing the work of Faustino and his team.

Résumé:
The young photographer Lesha Berezovskiy lives together with his wife Agata in Kyiv. When they woke up on February 24, 2022, they suddenly faced a new reality: the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. How do Lesha’s friends and neighbors, residents of Kyiv and Ukraine, cope with this abrupt break from their "normal" daily lives? What happens to people when their own fate is suddenly determined by world politics? In photographs and notes, Lesha has been recording his thoughts for the Swiss online magazine "Republik.ch" since February 2022. The images and texts in this book document Lesha's impressions from this past year – moments, situations and events – told from a very personal perspective. They’re touching, disturbing, poetic and yet always very direct and true to life.

Résumé:
The world is rapidly urbanizing, and experts predict that up to 80 percent of the population will live in cities by 2050. To accommodate that growth while ensuring quality of life for all residents, cities are increasingly turning to technology. From apps that make it easier for citizens to pitch in on civic improvement projects to comprehensive plans for smarter streets and neighborhoods, new tools and approaches are taking root across the United States and around the world. In this thoughtful, inquisitive collection, Rob Walker—former New York Times columnist and author of the City Tech column for Land Lines magazine—investigates the new technologies afoot and their implications for planners, policymakers, residents, and the virtual and literal landscapes of the cities we call home.
