Lord of Mess My Head is a Visual Township Jaybo has strongly influenced the development of European street art. He got to know the streets of Berlin at the age of 14 when he moved there from France. Since the early 90’s he has been one of the creative engines of the street and graphic design scene in Berlin.Lord of Mess presents the broad spectrum of his new-school style artwork – from very clean-cut graphic design to glaring Hip Hop illustrations and installations. This monograph features Jaybo’s font designs, logos, record covers and examples of his work as the Art Director of the lifestyle magazine Style and the Family Tunes. The characters, toys and clothes he has designed as the co-founder and chief designer of the street wear label Irie Daily are additionally showcased. The book also includes a CD with eight of Jaybo’s striking fonts that can’t be found anywhere else.

Résumé:
When the New Yorker art critic Peter Schjeldahl published his widely read autobiographical essay "The art of dying" in December 2019, he reported that he had lung cancer and his oncologist had given him six months to live, but his experimental treatment was showing some improvement. "These extra months," he wrote, "are a luxury that I hope to have put to good use.” And he did. "The art of dying: Writings, 2019-2022" begins with that essay and collects all 46 pieces that he wrote for the magazine before his death in October 2022. These last works express Schjeldahl’s hard-won reflections on art and life, against the backdrop of an intensely anxious period in America, spanning the pandemic, the George Floyd protests, the 2020 presidential election, and the war in Ukraine. Schjeldahl, who was the leading art writer of his generation, wrote with generosity and openness about the art world during these tempestuous three years.

Résumé:
"Do It Yourself" investigates the history behind the current do-it-yourself craze in home repair and remodeling. The origins of home improvement can be traced to the early part of the century, when government loan programmes placed home ownership within the reach of growing numbers of families, mass-circulation magazines began providing their readers with information about home renovation, and increasing numbers of Americans turned to the manual arts and handicrafts as leisure-time pursuits. World War II provided many Americans with the skills and confidence to undertake home-improvement projects on their own, and after the war, changes in the manufacturing and retailing of tools and equipment created new possibilities for transforming one's home. The text of "Do It Yourself", which investigates topics ranging from women's roles in home repair to historic preservation, is a lively mix of illustrations--including period photographs, magazine spreads, and advertisements--and clearly written analysis of the trends

Résumé:
ove & Lightning: A Collection of Queer and Feminist Manifestos is a thematically ordered, inconclusive collection of queer, feminist and queer-feminist manifestos. Girls Like Us Magazine and author Sarah van Binsbergen have composed a publication showcasing the different forms a manifesto might have, from classical, activist formats to more poetic, associative texts. The manifestos highlighted in this book cross borders, forms and disciplines, refuse binary logics, transcend our concepts of time and space and surpass the neoliberal logic. Love & Lightning does not claim to be a complete anthology, but it rather aims to show the myriad of ways manifestos can be composed, and what their legacy until this day is. It presents manifestos from 1851 until now, divided into eleven chapters, introduced in their socio-historical and geographical contexts, with many from Asia, Africa, Latin-America. Not only does this publication give new insight in the style of the manifesto, it aims to emancipate the reader to propose their own revolution, whether big or small.

Résumé:
This publication is the first volume to address an overlooked art form that is neither artist's book nor ephemera, but is entirely its own unique entity: the artist's serial publication. Across such groundswell moments as the small press boom of the 1960s, the correspondence art movement of the early 1970s and the DIY zine culture of the 1980s and early 1990s, artists have seized on magazine and postcard formats as forms in themselves. These are not publications that print criticism, manifestos or reproductions of artworks; rather, they are themselves artworks, in large part they are produced by younger artists operating at the peripheries of mainstream art cultures, or by established artists looking for an alternative to the marketplace. Dating from 1955 to the present, "In Numbers" begins with Wallace Berman's Semina and continues through Joe Brainard's C Comics, Situationist Times, Eleanor Antin's 100 Boots, Ian Hamilton Finlay's Poor.Old.Tired.Horse, Fluxus, amid contemporary examples such as North Drive Press, LTTR and Continuous Project.

Résumé:
Yutaka Takanashi's Toshi-e (Towards the City) is a landmark volume from one of the founders of the short-lived avant-garde Japanese magazine Provoke. The photographers associated with Provoke cultivated a grainy, blurry, black-and-white aesthetic, and Takanashi's pictures are grainy in the extreme. in 1974 and considered the most luxurious of all of the Provoke-era publications, its brooding, pessimistic tone describes the state of contemporary life in an unnamed city, in a Japan undergoing massive economic and industrial transformations. This sixth volume in Errata's Books on Books series reproduces all 116 black-and-white photographs, along with an essay by the British photographer, writer and book historian Gerry Badger. Errata Editions' Books on Books series is an ongoing publishing project dedicated to making rare and out-of-print photography books accessible to students and photobook enthusiasts. These are not reprints or facsimiles but complete studies of the original books.

Résumé:
Denmark’s best-known photographer Keld Helmer-Petersen published his first photobook, 122 Colour Photographs, in 1948. His work was immediately notable for its inventive composition, which turned landscapes and buildings into abstract patterns, and for the photographer’s embrace of color at a time when only black-and-white photography was considered serious. When Life magazine reproduced several pages from the book in 1949, Helmer-Petersen’s vision found a wide, international audience for the first time. Helmer-Petersen’s style was experimental modernism tempered by a lyrical simplicity and a sense of keen, quiet observation. By isolating details and compressing visual space, the photographer turned the real world into vibrant, graphic pattern. “The pictures aim at illustrating nothing whatever beyond the fact that we are surrounded by many beautiful and exciting things,” Helmer-Petersen said. “And that there can be a great deal of pleasure in spotting them and capturing their beauty by means of color photography.”

Building Subjects, the fourth issue of Standpunkte Magazine, is a collaboration between the architect De Peter Yi, the art historian Nancy P. Lin, and the graphic design studios Normal and Some All None. The publication revolves around collective housing in China, an architectural challenge expressive of the country's ongoing negotiations between its rich history and undetermined future. The study combines typological research with the modes of the architectural manifesto by establishing an exchange between cultural-historical observations, the consideration of contemporary socio-economic pressures, and evolving architectural aspirations. Through a close reading of spaces from monumental utopian communes in Beijing to round earthen dwellings in the Fujian province, Building Subjects stages collective housing as a key to residential architecture in China. The publication is simultaneously inward and outward looking, and this duality is also reflected in its meticulously composed layout: documentary photography and detailed axonometric drawings are juxtaposed to establish a correspondence between old and new, between reality and projection.
